Fightstar- Grand Unification - Album Review @ Music-Critic.com : the source for music reviews, interviews, articles, ...
The forming of Fightstar seemed be a unique and unfortunately unnecessarily scrutinised band, as the ignorant majority of music reviewers and listeners would quite simply base all their views on Fightstars music with an inevitable reference to 'Busted'.
One aspect of this album must be taken into consideration, this is Fightstar's debut and the album does consist of a few tracks such as 'Mono' and 'Lost Like Tears In Rain', which have been previously released on their EP 'They Liked You Better When You Where dead'.
Objectively I believe that Fightstar have an association with emotional music that cannot be paralleled by any other rock band, for instance Funeral For A Friend, do have emotional lyrics but the melodies are fixated on repetitive heavy key and bland vocal talents.

Fightstar - Grand Unification : album review
Quite simply, Grand Unification is a joyous listen from start to finish and that Fightstar have managed to mould an album that doesn't disappoint after the teasing glory of their singles is an achievement in itself.
Where others are happy to be one-dimensional, Fightstar are not content unless a song moves fluidly through seemingly incongruous but ultimately coherent moods and musical dynamics.
Undoubtedly some will find Fightstar's sense of adventure too perilous, but for the more enterprising, and for those who enjoy hearing a band incorporate their musical references without resorting to plagiarism, there is much to smile about.

Guitarist Charlie Simpson - who quit the boy band Busted earlier this year to focus on his role as frontman of the rock band Fightstar - is "ecstatic" at the reception his new group has received.
It was a gamble whether the music industry would look beyond Simpson's teen-friendly roots, but Simpson stressed that the majority of people - in particular the alternative music press - had been supportive.
He added that he wanted to be happy with the music he was making - and was not particularly bothered if Fightstar matched the success of his previous band.
