	Filbert Bayi - Career, Later life
		Filbert Bayi (born June 23, 1953) was a Tanzanian middle-distance runner of the 1970s who set the world records for 1500 metres in 1974 and the mile in 1975.
		Bayi won a silver medal in the 3,000 m steeplechase at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.
		After retirement Bayi has spent much effort in setting up the Filbert Bayi Foundation which aims to guide young sporting talent in Tanzania.

		Filbert Bayi's performances in his international debut at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, where he was eliminated in the heats of both the 3000m steeplechase and the 1500m, gave no hint of the incredible middle distance running talent that he would display in subsequent years.
		Sometimes his tactics backfired, as happened in a 1 mile race a few days later, where Bayi was caught near the finish by Ben Jipcho (Kenya), after at one stage holding a lead of nearly 80 metres.
		Bayi's greatest performance was in the 1500m final at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch on 2 February 1974.
