Filipino Canadians are Canadian citizens or immigrants who are of Filipino ancestry and can trace their roots back to the Philippines.
To date, there are currently between 300,000 to 350,000 Filipino canadians and immigrants in Canada, most of them living in cities.

With the rapid growth of the Filipino population in Canada and in British Columbia, Filipino youth are feeling the impacts of the intensifying inequality and underdevelopment of the Filipino community.
Filipinos are among the most highly educated of immigrant groups in Canada, yet their incomes are lower than that of other immigrant groups and those born in Canada.
In 1998, 14 Filipino youth and two other youth of colour were attacked by a group of 30 white youth in Squamish, B.C. Since most Filipino youth are newly arrived to Canada, they are constantly the targets of racially motivated attacks, both in and out of schools.

Some 60 Filipino workers (caregivers, factory workers, hotel and restaurant and other service workers), and their allies and supporters from the Filipino and other communities gathered February 3 at the Wellesley Community Center for the forum dubbed "Raising the Standard of Living of Filipino Hotel Workers in Toronto".
The event was co-sponsored by SIKLAB Ontario (National Alliance of Filipino Migrant Workers in Canada) and UNITE-HERE, a Canadian general workers union originally comprised by textile and garments workers, hotel and restaurant employees.
Another Filipino immigrant, Victoria Sobrepena, talked about her experience as a qualified university-trained teacher who could not find a teaching position in Canada because her skills and qualifications are not recognized.

Filipino youth and other marginalized youth are disappearing from the school system, because of the dismal support system in the schools and the intensifying racism in the Vancouver school system.
Also, Filipino youth are assaulted daily with occurrences of racism ranging from racial slurs and threats to physical assaults.
