Filippo Juvara nacque to Messina in the 1678 from one family of silversmiths, father and siblings orafi; it manifested sin from small "a special" inclination for the design and developed with extreme facility its extraordinary ability to graphical expression beyond to not common dowries for the Fine Arts.
Between this Filippo Juvara that moved to Rome to the school of Carl Fontana (1703), in 1705 it achieved the first prize to the competition clementino with a villa plan, it was operoso to Naples in 1706, is its the design of the Antamori Nail head in Saint Girolamo of the Charity to Rome.
The facade appears fastosa and austera at the same time and it is adapted perfectly to the Public square that accommodates it; the inside, in particular the entrance hall and the elegant one scalone, from lucide the structures, are conceived for the scenografico effect, always present peculiarity in all its works.

After a period of formation in Sicily as a member of artisan family of goldsmiths and chisellers, he moved to Rome in 1703 where studied architecture of Carlo and Francesco Fontana.
In 1735 the architect was invited to Madrid by Philip the 5th, for who were executed the projects for the Palazzo Reale, Granja di Sant'Ildefonso and Palazzo di Aranjuez, built after the death of Juvarra by G.B.Sacchetti and other pupils.

Allievo di Filippo Juvara, studia i monumenti romani e i testi dei grandi trattatisti, da Vitruvio al rinascimento, e inizia poi la sua attività collocandosi in una significativa posizione artistica fra la fine del rococò e l'inizio del neoclassicismo.
Lo Juvara, figlio di un incisore, dopo un primo apprendistato con il padre, si trasferì a Roma, studiando per oltre dieci anni, dal 1703 al 1714, presso Carlo Fontana e conoscendo a fondo, oltre alle opere classiche, quelle degli artisti del Seicento, fra i quali, in modo particolare.
Le opere costruite dallo Juvara a Torino e in tutto lo stato sabaudo nell'arco di una ventina d'anni sono numerosissime; fra esse dobbiamo almeno nominare la celebre scala "a forbice" di Palazzo Reale, la facciata di Palazzo Madama, e soffermarci sulla Basilica di Superga e sulla Palazzina di caccia di Stupinigi (vedi regione Piemonte).

First of all the nave and the two aisles were built, starting from the transept; then it was the tum of the Gothic facade - featuring spires and Rodari's statues - of the Renaissance flanks and of the apses; finally the dome was erected.

The king Philip V went, faced with the difficulty of carrying out a reconstruction, to the most reputed architect in the moment, Filippo Juvara, who arrived in Madrid in April 1735.
The pride that made him to be known elect and feeling with free hands to design the height work of his career, made that Juvara designed a palace that was more than a kilometer long.
In January 1736, the architect Juvara died without the drawings were even finished, for what it was required the presence of his best student's, Italian Giovanni Battista Sachetti.

Villa Abegg, which was completed at the end of the 1960's, was planned to complement and augment the institute's collections in terms of the period and nature of its contents.
Its achitecture follows the North Italian Baroque as represented by the school of Filippo Juvara (1678-1736), and the formal gardens and fountains stand in a similar tradition.

Alla sobria facciata rinascimentale (notevole il portale in pietra scolpita, coi battenti in legno, forse di Filippo Morari da Soresina, datati 1490) si contrappone il sovrabbondante barocco dell’interno: la decorazione ad affreschi (350 riquadri) e stucchi è di grande effetto.
Un grande scalone a due rampe con la volta affrescata in modo da sembrare a cielo aperto porta alla galleria del piano nobile, la cui volta a botte fu affrescata nel 1677 da Pietro Sorisene con finte prospettive.
In corso Matteotti, ora Itc Ballini, edificato nel 1672-inizio ‘700 da Giovan Battista Groppi con l’intervento, tra gli altri, di Filippo Juvara (atrio a colonne).

Fu però Cristina di Francia, moglie di Vittorio Amedeo I, che verso la metà del XVII secolo diede inizio a imponenti lavori decorativi e di restauro, continuati poi da Maria Giovanna Battista di Savoia-Nemours.
Tra il 1718 e il 1721 Filippo Juvara realizzò la straordinaria facciata barocca e lo scalone monumentale.
E’ il caso della Villa della Regina, del Castello di Venaria Reale e soprattutto della Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, capolavoro indiscusso di Filippo Juvara in plastiche forme barocche, meravigliosamente legata senza soluzione di continuità all’ambiente esterno.
