 Paul Butzi Photography
Film development consists of a series of steps, always done in the same order: pre-wash, developer, stop bath, fixer, hypo-clearing agent, and wash. Each step except for washing should be done with the film in complete darkness (that is, in an enclosed tank with a light trap, or in a completely dark room).
Temperature of the solutions, particularly the developer, is important, and a water bath should be used to keep the temperature of the chemicals and the film tank all uniform and constant.
The temperature and duration of the developer control the rate at which this chemical reaction occurs, so it’s important to make especially sure that the developer is the right temperature to start, and to use a water bath to make sure the temperature doesn’t drift during the development step.

With the lights still off, locate your scissors and carefully cut off the tapered leader, then cut the end of the film to a smooth arc and insert the end into your film development spool until the film's sprockets are firmly engaged by the ball bearings of the spool.
When you have accomplished the loading of the film onto the development spool, place the film spool properly into your development tank, ensuring that all of the parts are in the proper place (gasket etc.).
Five seconds before the development time is finished, take the cap off of the tank (the tank still has a top and is still light proof), and dump all of the solution down the drain or into a silver recovery device if you have one.

Film developing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Development does three things: it transforms the latent image into a visible image that can be seen, it makes the visible image permanent and resistant to deterioration with time, and it renders the film insensitive to light.
The film is removed from the camera and wound onto a reel in complete darkness (usually inside a darkroom or a lightproof bag with arm holes).
The reel holds the film in a spiral shape, with space between each successive loop so the chemicals may flow freely acrooss the film's surfaces.

Unwind the film and remove the end of the film from the spool by peeling off the tape that connects it.
With plastic, you simply slide one end of the film into a slot on the outer edge of the reel and "walk" the film in until it is loaded.
Development time is directly affected by two things: the speed of the film and the temperature of the developer.

 Developing Dry-film Images
Unlike copper etching, developing properly laminated and imaged dry-film photopolymers is easily accomplished by swishing your board about in a conventional photographic processing tray.
This derives from the fact that the organic and radiation chemists who developed (and continue to develop) these films have done an excellent job of creating an entire class of easy-to-use and environmentally safe materials that are almost as tough as nails if processed according to published guidelines.
Tray developing is the easiest to set up but may severely limit the density of the circuit patterns that you are able to develop, as well as restrict the maximum hole size that you can reliably "tent" with photoresist.
