Digital Film Scanners - Minolta Dimage Scan Speed Film Scanner Review, Information, and Specifications
The Dimage Scan Speed uses plastic slide- and filmstrip-holders to carry the film to the scanner: You first place the media to be scanned into the holder, then insert the holder into the scanner.
The filmstrip holder can accommodate strips of 35mm film up to six frames in length, and the slide holder up to four slides.
Both holders are reversible, a necessary feature for their use: Inserted into the scanner, you can access half of the total film frames by sliding the adapter in or out.

 Roll Film Back Follow-Up
I have heard that the roll film holders that slip beneath the GG are quite a bit thicker than the standard sheet film holder and are therefore more likely to damage the spring back mechanism with prolonged use.
If you use it a lot, I would prefer one of the sliding backs which has the gg to the left and the film holder on the right, so after you compose, you slide the back to the right and the film is in place and ready to shoot.
This holder was replaced by a Horseman 6x9 roll film holder, which req uires removing the ground glass, again no problems.

Open the film holder door, and place your finger on the edge of the film pack to hold it in position.

Measuring depth of groundglass and film plane
The ANSI spec for 4x5 film holder depth is.197" +/-.007 Taking into consideration that the ground glass and the aluminum plenum in a film holder both exhibit a certain degree of compliance, you can only make meaningful measurements of their depth with a precision depth gauge and specially designed, surface ground, chromed steel test fixtures.
The chances of a 0.2mm shift of the film plane when inserting a film holder, especially on field cameras, is quite high.
Now stick in a film holder with a sheet of film in it (or an old negative you don't cherish) and do the same measurement after pulling the dark slide.

Photographic process of producing photographic prints upon instant print film - Patent 4413050
When using "instant" film that has a film holder requirement, it is necessary to place the loaded film holder, with the dark slide in place on the enlarging easel parallel to the transparency.
Because instant print films are characterized by the fact that they are developed insitu, the chemicals involved in the process are a part of the total film package and special equipment is provided in either the camera or the package to release the chemicals after the film has been exposed.
Unless the instant print film is at a proper temperature to develop the tonal quality and color saturation to a maximum, the print quality of a print made by the process of the invention will not be optimal, very good, or sufficient to meet the objectives of this invention.
