With the introduction of “Hollywood Renaissance: Film and American Society, 1967-1983,” an honors course in Film Studies, this may no longer be an issue for students who are interested in an academically challenging, yet creatively stimulating semester at RVCC.
Bezanson chose to create a Film Studies course based on the time period of 1967-1983 because “The Hollywood Renaissance in the 1970s was an explosion of creativity in a decade of turmoil,” he said.
However, the features that set this class apart from the other film courses offered at RVCC are that it allows students to challenge their critical thinking skills through an intensive exploration of certain themes/genres, and to elucidate their learning experience through a critical research paper.
