Filmways - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1982 Filmways was acquired in a merger with Orion Pictures Corporation.
The "Filmways Trail" logo was used in 1978–1981.
A huge majority of Filmways Television's backlog through the 1980s, such as Green Acres, The Addams Family, Cagney and Lacey, Hollywood Squares, and Mister Ed, was passed to Orion when it merged with Filmways, and is currently owned by Sony Pictures Television by way of MGM which purchased Orion in 1998, with a few exceptions.

NationMaster - Encyclopedia: Orion Pictures Corporation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
In 1982, Orion merged with Filmways, Inc. (which had produced well-remembered TV shows in the late 1960s, such as The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Mister Ed and The Addams Family, but was a second-string studio by the late 1970s and mainly interesting for its ownership of American International Pictures), and became an independent company.
The Beverly Hillbillies is a TV sitcom about a hillbilly who strikes oil while hunting on his land, near the fictional Bugtussle, and moves his family to Beverly Hills, California, with the resultant wealth.
Almost all of Orion's releases from 1982 onwards, as well as most of the AIP and Filmways backlogs and all the television output originally produced and distributed by Orion Television now bear the MGM name.

Issuance of a building permit may qualify as an exempt ministerial act (see, e.g., Matter of Filmways Communications v Douglas, 106 AD2d 185, affd 65 NY2d 878), or may instead constitute agency "action" subject to SEQRA (see, e.g., Pius v Bletsch, 70 NY2d 920), depending on the regulatory scheme underlying the act.
In Filmways, we affirmed, on the opinion below, the Appellate Division's holding that SEQRA was not implicated by the building inspector's decision to grant or deny a building permit application because that activity involved "no latitude of choice" (106 AD2d at 186).
Since under the applicable regulations a decision on the permit application could only be predicated on the applicant's compliance or noncompliance with the Building Code, the determination constituted a SEQRA- exempt ministerial act.
