Tuvalu was represented by His Excellency, Reverend Filoimea Telito, Governor General and First Lady Madam Pepa Telito, accompanied by His Excellency, Mr Enele S Sopoaga, Tuvalu Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mr Uale Taleni, Assistant Secretary General, and Dr Karl Koch, Tuvalu Honorary Consul to Belgium.
The Summit focused mainly on strengthening cooperation between France and the Pacific island countries to address political stability, economic development and environmental security in the Pacific particularly against global warming and climate change.
His Excellency Telito noted that “…the effects of climate change on small islands like Tuvalu is not an Atlantis myth, it is simply the reality of the magnitude of the threat to our communities in Tuvalu and the Pacific.
