At last, Sony has confirmed the forthcoming release of Final Fantasy Anthology on PlayStation in Europe this May. The package will consist of Final Fantasy IV and V, as previously speculated, but no pricing information is currently available.
Apart from the GBA version of Final Fantasy Tactics, it is not thought that Square plans to delve any further into its past for further re-releases at this time.
Final Fantasy Anthology is due out on 15th May, 2002.

Final Fantasy V has had a mixture of reviews, although many people, (most people) that have played it can agree, that for the Final Fantasy Standards, this game fell short in such areas as, the story line, and character development.
This is good and bad: the crystals were in the first five Final Fantasies (hey, that's alliteration right there) as well as Mystic Quest so the whole crystals thing was a little cliche and this point, but the crystals were almost legendary in the FF series.

In Final Fantasy 6, characters' abilities such as Sabin's blitzes or Setzer's slot machine attack, the game sometimes doesn't register that you pushed a diagonal button on the pad or hit the A button when you did which is enough to mess up the attack.

The way I heard this is Final Fantasy VI (FF III in North America) is timed after the events of FFI mainly because it is the same time as the Esper Mages.
Final Fantasy IX was the next game in the series of events in Final Fantasy VI because one of the characters in the game was a Esper.
The Final Fantasy VI marked a end of a generation who played games when they were just game and people played these games over 3 or 4 times before they finally got sick of them.

For the most part, the Final Fantasy Anthology games are clean with mildly suggestive dialogue, nowhere near as overboard as their 32-Bit counterparts so parents don't have to worry.
Final Fantasy Anthology is a MUST for any Square fan who has never played the originals on the 16-Bit Super Nintendo (you can't call yourself a Square fan if you've only been initiated by Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy VIII).
I knew of FF2, or Final Fantasy IV (FF4), as it was known in Japan (where it was immensely popular), but RPGs were nowhere near as popular in the U.S. and certainly not at my house.

Considered by many diehard RPG fans to be the brightest jewel in Final Fantasy's crown, Final Fantasy VI is deserving of the praise based on characters, storyline and the ungodly amount of sub-quests, secrets and options that pack this 50-plus hour quest.
When the game was released back in '94 on Super NES, Final Fantasy III (as it's known here in the States) represented everything an RPG should be and bumped up the standards in gameplay by including an inventive Esper system that nearly doubled the amount of options characters had in and out of battle.
Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI both have enough of those treasured definitive gaming moments during each quest to last through this current generation of software and probably the next.
