The melodies of Final Fantasy VI are wonderfully arranged and performed for solo piano by Reiko Nomura in this album.
"Celes" is an arrangement of the legendary "Aria di Mezzo Caraterre," from the famed opera sequence in Final Fantasy VI.
The soundtrack to Final Fantasy VI is often heralded as his best, and for good reason; the majority of the soundtrack is simply beautiful.

A couple of these tracks are straightforward, unaltered piano renditions - like the simplistic stuff done for Dragon Quest VI on Piano.
Overall, Final Fantasy VI Piano Collections is a must-have for a collector, and has perhaps a little more general appeal than the other FFVI CDs because hey, everybody likes some good piano.
All in all, this is a CD that really no collector should be without: a moving, emotional collection of arrangements of some of the best pieces from the amazing FF6.

I love the piano and have studied it for twelve years- but I have always preferred it to be a voice in the music rather than the soloist.
The melody starts as a single piano line against a left hand block chord ostinato then transitions into a flowing movement of arpeggios and a bolder re-statement of the melody.
Naturally, no Final Fantasy collection could be without the presence of "Celes" or "The Opera" or any of the other multitude of names this piece receives.

Piano pieces are particularly nice, soothing, when they're done right.
With the music based off of Nobuo Uematsu's famed Final Fantasy series, and also, arguably best soundtrack in the series, Final Fantasy VI, you know that you are going to get more than a treat.
Everything is executed perfectly, reflecting on all the better songs (which really is all of them) from Final Fantasy VI and translating them into piano masterpieces.

In "The Decisive Battle" Uematsu knew he couldn't mimic the rich sound of this track on a solo piano, so he reworked it into a rolling, flowing, frenetic piece that cuts the melodic line into pieces and tosses them around until hurtling into an almost cacophonic climax.

This dissonance is not purposeless unlike many Satou's arrangements in the Final Fantasy V Piano Collection - instead it gives both a vivid interpretation of the loopy character of Stragus and brings out a new level of musicality to Nobuo Uematsu's original melodies.
Similar to the style of the older FF piano collections, Coin Song is the perfect song to utilize simplicity as it needs to convey a soft, sad and reminiscent emotion.
I agree with this to some extent, however, with the Final Fantasy IV, V, VI and VII Piano Collections all having an arrangement of the Chocobo theme I think this is excessive and quite backwards.
