		Finmeccanica spokesman Marco Valerio Bonelli said June 11 that Finmeccanica Chairman Pier Francesco Guarguaglini has indicated that a draft memorandum of understanding with Alcatel has been completed, but would need to be approved by Finmeccanica’s board of directors before being signed.
		Finmeccanica reported 2003 space-related revenues of 767 million euros ($942.4 million) in 2003, and said the division had a positive pretax profit margin of 1.8 percent, compared to a loss in 2002.
		Finmeccanica Chief Executive Roberto Testore told investors in May that the company’s space business had been streamlined enough that, with a slight uptick in business now seen from the Italian government, the company is ready for a merger.
