Ten-year-old Finn Bell is a Florida wharf rat whose escape from his hardscrabble life lies in sketching.
Recast as a tale of erotic obsession and shallow celebrity, Charles Dickens' Great Expectations becomes director Alfonso Cuaron's sadly lush ode to exploited youth, a visual feast that never loses sight of the bitter toll the plot's twists and turns take on its characters.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain: A searchable online version at The Literature Network
Huck Finn is drawn from life; Tom Sawyer also, but not from an individual -- he is a combina- tion of the characteristics of three boys whom I knew, and therefore belongs to the composite order of archi- tecture.
By the time Ben was fagged out, Tom had traded the next chance to Billy Fisher for a kite, in good repair; and when he played out, Johnny Miller bought in for a dead rat and a string to swing it with -- and so on, and so on, hour after hour.
Tom is still very popular here.My classmates are proud of him,and want to be him someday, for he is brave, resourceful and has many good friends.

 Review: Cube Zero (2004)
Meanwhile, his decision to go into the cube sets off an effort by one of the higher-ups--namely the one-eyed Jax (Michael Riley in a very sinister turn) and his two associates Finn (Josh Peace) and Quigley (Diego Klattenhoff)--to harness the (in their eyes) rebelious "rat", Wynn.
Cube Zero opens with the death of one of these prisoners and what happens in the control room afterwards.
I had originally seen Cube in April 2004 on television and liked the fact that it was a very cerebral film--a sci-fi flick for the thinking person, if you will.
