Finn Brothers - Biography - AOL Music
Brothers Tim and Neil Finn have been making music together since their childhood in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, continuing through to international success in Split Enz and Crowded House.
The album, released in the fall of 1995 (the summer of 1996 in the U.S.), showed a much more casual side of the Finns and was less pop-oriented than their previous musical collaborations -- the brothers play nearly all of the instruments themselves, ranging from the primitive to the exotic.
After initial pressings of Finn, the duo changed their name to the Finn Brothers to avoid confusion with a band going under a similar name.

The Finn Brothers were promoting their soon to be released album, Everyone is Here, at a special, secret fan-club only show in the Open Air Theatre at Regent’s Park, a stone amphitheatre usually reserved for Shakespearean drama.
So both have sufficiently impressive pedigrees to warrant sharing a stage with the brothers Finn, and their skills as performers were always evident, if a bit overpowering at times, particularly in the case of Paul.
Finn the Elder began the second verse of what was another noisy song with a catchy chorus.

She referred to the greatness of the Finns, whom she’d also accompanied on the American tour, and pointed out that this was the first night of the European tour, so we were going to have a great night.
There were logistical difficulties, of course, as the two brothers then had to remove the "horse leg" trousers and then put on their own shoes, which required time for crouching and tying etc, whilst roadies gathered up the now defunct bits of felt animal and took them away.
The Finn brothers hid their faces from us as they sang—Tim with his eyes closed for most of the brief number, sounding incredibly sad, and Neil with a mop of fringe screening him off as he looked down for the whole song.

Finn - Finn Brothers - Song Listings
Finn is the long rumored and awaited collaboration between brothers Tim and Neil Finn.
The first reports of the project in 1990 promised an album of "just acoustic guitars and lots of harmonies," and when that material was absorbed by Crowded House for Woodface, it was proven that the team was...
Those expecting Woodface Part 2, however, are in for a surprise -- Finn is a moody, atmospheric album that shows a more spontaneous and experimental side with the brothers playing all of the instruments, including ukuleles, Chamberlain keyboards, mellotron, and tea chest bass.

With the long history of fraternal feuding in rock, from the Everly Brothers and the Kinks' Davies duo to the Gallagher boys of Oasis, it's nice to see a pair of musical siblings who can't seem to get enough of each other.
Finn Brothers is a modest, understated album that successfully combines the conventional beauty we've come to expect from Neil's melodic work with Crowded House and the eccentric charm typical of Tim's edgy post-art rock Split Enz.
The album, released in the fall of 1995 (the summer of 1996 in the U.S.), showed a much more casual side of the Finns and was less pop-oriented than their previous musical collaborations - the brothers play nearly all of the instruments themselves, ranging from the primitive to the exotic.

Barnes & Noble.com - Music: Everyone Is Here, Finn Brothers, CD
The Finns still have a tendency to slather the sentiment on a bit too heavily at times (see "Luckiest Man Alive"), but those off-moments are more than offset by the pair's ability to capture both whimsy, as on "Edible Flowers," and non-saccharine affirmations, like the string-buoyed "Nothing Wrong With You," with panache.
Each brother released two studio albums and one live album (Tim's was a collaborative live effort, but it could be argued that Neil's star-studded 7 Worlds Collide was collaborative too) and, more importantly, their mother Mary passed away, and all of this feeds into the spirit, vibe, and sensibility of Everyone Is Here.
This is the first time the Finns have written as directly and abundantly about their kinship, and unlike other famous rock siblings, the Finns' relationship is not only cordial but loving, which doesn't mean that it's any less complex than such legendarily combative brothers from the Everlys through the Gallaghers.

The Finns' latest is glossy, emotional, and sure to satisfy longtime listeners-- as well as any Stereophonics or Aqualung fans paying their respects.
Tim, the elder Finn, was the first to come to international prominence, fronting clownishly costumed new-wavers Split Enz.
The brothers reunited for Crowded House's 1991 Woodface, which still stands as their collaborative high watermark; their first album as The Finn Brothers, 1995's Finn, was an exotic, eclectic affair.

The brothers play all instruments--which include drums, electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin and other random outbursts--except for one song, where a bass player pitches in.
The Finn brothers have a huge ammount of talent and this is expressed by the quality music being produced by them.

While they still were an exciting lysergic primer for a non-drug-taking world and mixed bucolic tropes with wonderful flights of fancy, unless you were sitting in the first dozen rows and getting the on-stage sound, things tended to get sludgy.

The staff were smiley and kind, worried about us fainting, shared our privileged feeling of having the Finns in their midst, and even gave out to the crowd afterwards the many posters lining the walls of the store that (falsely) advertised the Finns being there for a signing that night.
The brothers’ delivery was awe-inspiring, with Tim lip synching to his brother’s verses until it came time for him to add surprisingly strong vocals to the chorus.
The Finns’ departure from the stage was the cue to most of the crowd, despite being mature Crowded House (and Split Enz—even older!) fans, to turn and stampede to get upstairs to grab the limited number of pre-signed CDs, which sold out quickly.

In recent years, acts such as the Dixie Chicks, Yossou N'Dour and Joe Jackson have played shows which really came to life at the encore when the stage was finally rushed, when the pulse of the night was raised and bodies on and off the stage began to sweat.
The Finn Brothers, in band mode rather than acoustic duo, were not putting on a tea party at the State - they began with the drum-heavy Anything Can Happen from their recent album, finished many songs with '70s rock climaxes and even the pretty, quieter numbers had some movement underneath.
Starting tonight, with the Finns' third show, let's pray that artists begin not just urging us down to the front but letting those very nice usher types know that this is a rock concert not a chamber recital.

He left the band while they were touring Europe in support of the Woodface album, but the seed for a brotherly project was sown, and in 1995, a lo-fi album simply called Finn was released (Finn Brothers in the US).
