FireFlyBSD is the first commercial operating system to integrate recent research such as IBM's K42 Research Project.
That's the whole point of the BSD license: do whatever you want with my code, just give me credit for the parts I wrote.
They won't go to the generic DragonFlyBSD support lists, where most of their questions would be answered with, "Uh, that program isn't part of DFly, can't help you." or similar.

From the looks of it FireflyBSD is based on DranflyBSD (http://www.dragonflybsd.org), which can be downloaded freely.
Unfortunately it does not appear as if FireflyBSD offers a free download.
To tell the truth, aside from the technical support, there is very little incentive to use FireflyBSD over DragonflyBSD.

The ELF shell is part of NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, DragonFlyBSD and Gentoo, Debian, CRUX, Ubuntu, Adamantix distributions of Linux, as well as the Solaris opensource community package Solarpack.
Commercial distributions such as FireFlyBSD or LinSpire also include the ELF shell.
Besides the code contributions, you can help at the documentation project by writing API reference updates and translations.

There will never be enough diversity to provide meaningful resistance to attacks.
The only thing that would happen if usage was allocated uniformly over all available platforms, including VsTA, Plan 9, and FireFlyBSD, is that the threat surface would be magnified (because now any operating system flaw will translate into a viably susceptable worm population), along with the cost to mitigate those threats.
So in this one case I agree with MJR.
