Fireball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fireball is often used in reference to any large explosion or burst of fire.
Fireballs frequently leave a trail which can be visible for several minutes (glowworms), and can sometimes produce a noise loud enough to be audible from the ground.

Fireball Zone - Ric Ocasek - Music Reviews
This was especially true of the latter album, which even featured a handful of hit singles that were more popular than any that The Cars would score in the remainder of their career.
Fireball Zone is also easily the sunniest Ocasek solo collaboration; much of the material is relatively sprightly and colorful, and the disc includes some musical experiments that Ocasek would never have touched when he was still with The Cars.
The album is led by the uptempo "Rockaway" (one of the album's first singles) and the first 8 tracks are nearly infallible; "Touch Down Easy" and "Come Back" are easily two of the most Cars-ish songs that Ocasek ever released, and "All We Need Is Love" has a light reggae vibe.

 Shawn Camp: Fireball Reviews
Fireball isn't a masterpiece - I'll reserve that for the masters (Waylon, Willie, Johnny, even Dwight) - but this is one of the best releases I've heard out of Nashville in quite some time.
Fireball is the kind of smart, well-crafted music that can be heard by those who are willing to search beyond the boardrooms and bottom lines of Music Row.
Fireball is another hard-to-deny effort from the guitarist-fiddler with the creamy baritone.

Then, or so the story goes, they played the show (a January 28th closing party for the beloved NY space Mighty Robot), and everybody in earshot (and eyesight?) was floored by the potent magic of their alchemy.
Most of the praise has focused heavily on Fireball’s evident sonic debt to the James Gang/Hawkwind axis of good-times cosmic devil-rock, but their own words on the record are oddly dead-pan and mannered: “We wanted to see how much dirt we could kick in the fire without putting it out.
Fireball claim they have no current peers, but they confess a kinship with a diverse lineage of wild out-rockers, ranging from the predictably heavy (High on Fire, Comets on Fire, Dead Moon) to the unusually fringe (Woods, Rusted Shut, The Boredoms).

PIXELSURGEON | Reviews | Music | Deep Purple
While Black Sabbath's early albums explored the darker edges of rock as a precursor to the occult-inspired Metal bands of the 80s and 90s and Led Zeppelin betrayed traces hippiedom in Robert Plant's lyrics, Deep Purple occupied the middle ground with a more accessible rock sound.
Album closer, No One Came is one of Deep Purple's finest tracks, the essence of what's great about early 70s Hard Rock distilled into six minutes and twenty five seconds of pumping sonic brilliance.
The beauty of this album, and Deep Purple in general, is that each band member is an extremely gifted musician and is given sufficient space to experiment and show off without becoming self-indulgent.

That Deep Purple's reputation was founded largely on the trio of albums cut between late 1969 and 1971 is indisputable.
Even those whose preference is for the bluesier Coverdale fronted or the erratic Bolin line-ups of later years can't escape the fact that "Deep Purple In Rock", "Fireball", and "Machine Head" - three albums which defined hard progressive rock for several generations - remain the heart of the band's catalogue.

Fireball Zone is a partial change of pace for Ocasek, and the result is enjoyable.

That, coupled with adverse comments on the album by the band, tend to give Fireball a rather poor reputation today, whereas in reality it is a superb LP, but one which many people - expecting more of the same after In Rook, failed to appreciate.

Escient Fireball Audio Server reviewed on AudioRevolution.com - eCoustics.com
Escient’s new Fireball is an early example of something that is going to become a lot more common in the future, believe me: it’s an audio component that links today’s broadband internet audio experience to your home audio system and with your existing CD collection.
The rear panel of the Fireball is fairly obvious, although it has some things you won’t usually find on the back of an audio component.
It is early in the game for components like the Fireball, but for a first time out, this unit is impressive and I am confident that it is only going to get better and better with software and firmware updates.

This album was the second to feature the Mark Two lineup, consisting of singer Ian Gillan, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, drummer Ian Paice, bassist Roger Glover, and keyboardist/organist Jon Lord.
Overall this is a damn good Deep Purple album, and one of the most unfairly neglected releases from the Mark Two phase of the band.

Shawn Camp 'Fireball' album - MusicRemedy
Camp called together an all-star bluegrass cast showcasing a trio of fiddle-driven numbers he’d written with Guy Clark; favorites from the Lost In The Lonesome Pines album; originals that had already found their way into the Del McCoury Band’s repertoire; and others soon to be recorded by some of bluegrass’s biggest names.
Loaded with a fresh batch of songs the album reveals his strengths as a rootsy yet modern country stylist——and, as always, a songwriter who memorably connects contemporary sensibilities to forms that evoke memories of classics that traverse the range of country music history.
The result of an organic process that found him “recording every song I wrote in the last year or so as if it were a master session,” Fireball has a kind of seamless elegance that makes it a fitting capstone to a year that Camp counts among the best he’s had.

"Fireball" made one of this band's most unique traits even more obvious; it was here that DP (lyrically and musically) took the obligatory themes of fast-paced, hard-living rock and roll lifestyles, and placed them in dramatic structures that gave these seemingly cliched topics a unique perspective.
The second classic album by Deep Purple, this was more progessive than "Deep Purple in Rock" but it wasn't that wild, Blackmore didn't like this album much but Gillan pick this as one of his biggest favourites, anyway this album has highlights such as the title song, "No No No", "The Mule" and "Fools".
This album may be my least favourite from the four classic albums but it's worth the prize.

When I approached it like it was a Rainbow album, my expectations were much different and I found the addition of former DP bandmates Lord and Paice to the core Rainbow lineup of Blackmore-Glover-Turner to be outstanding, although neither was really allowed to shine.
The "reunion years" studio albums (except for TBRO, which I haven't heard yet) were all a little stiff, and I think it's because somebody was restraining the others artistically.
I won't mention any names, but I think the last two albums have been much different and less Rainbow-y in their sound, and therefore more like the cooperative virtuousity that made Deep Purple the awesome band that they are.

Deep Purple : Fireball - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
One of Deep Purple's three essential albums, 1971's Fireball finds the band taking the no-holds-barred, hard-rock direction of the previous year's In Rock to new creative heights.
Closing the album is the exceptional "No One Came," which sounds so fresh that its plausible that the band improvised it on the spot.
Their intertwining instrumental lines lock together beautifully, and Gillan weaves a comic, semi-autobiographical story that is equal parts rooted in fact and Monty Python.
