Amazon.com: Hello Lisa: Music: Lisa Loeb
Loeb's follow up to Firecracker finds her associating with Dweezil Zappa, son of the late musical genuis, who is content with contributing guitar licks, hooks and solos that actually compliment the music rather than draw attention away from it.
Lisa Loeb may have been overlooked throughout the past few years, but that does not mean her talent has waned.
Hello Lisa certainly isn't as hard edged as some of the tracks on her 1994 debut album Tails, and it's not right to call it a maturing, as Loeb has seemingly been on her game from day one.

 REVIEW
With their first album, Lisa Loeb and her backup band Nine Stories needed to overcome the instant popularity that "Stay" brought them, and although it had some good pop tunes, there was an equal number of forgettable, bland songs in which it was obvious that as a band they had not found their sound.
The pink bubblegum album cover is the first indication, and the first single, "I Do", is the second indication that there are other ways to write about spoiled relationships: uptempo, good beat, and Lisa's easy-to-listen-to voice (compare Ms.

 Lisa Loeb's latest doesn't impress
Luckily, Firecracker does feature some of the radio-friendly pop that worked for Loeb with "Stay (I Missed You)." The most notable example is "I Do," a spunky ode to unsuccessful relationships and the first single from the album.
On the cover of this album, Loeb is in the fetal position on a pink rug, donning pink lipstick, wearing only a man's shirt (pink again), set against a pink background.
The worst song on the album, "Falling In Love," is a rip-off of Paula Cole's "Where Have all the Cowboys Gone" and contains the very deep lyric "The time between meeting and finally leaving is/Sometimes called falling in love." While "Jake" is a lovely cello melody, its irritating lyrics totally ruin the mood.

 Cool Spins
It's been about four years since Lisa Loeb's last album, Firecracker, came out, and if the lyrics on her new one are any indication of the life she's been living during the interim, it would appear that she's spent a lot of time in rocky relationships.
Musically, this is her strongest album to date: Many of the hooks are memorable, the arrangements veer from surprisingly forceful pop-rock to more contemplative folk spaces, plus there is a judicious use of strings on two tracks; it's a nice combination of styles pulled together by Loeb's breathy vocals and appealing persona.
In general, I prefer the somewhat softer first half of the album to the more rockin' second half, but then she saves the best for last: “She's Falling Apart” is a spare and frightening depiction of a woman's mental dissolution; one of her best songs ever.

While not quite as catchy as Firecracker, there are a lot of gems here amid Lisa's trademark quirky folk-pop songs.
Tails, her debut album that came out a couple years later, was charming and winsome, but then she suffered a sophomore slump.

 RollingStone.com: Firecracker : Lisa Loeb : Review
Firecracker might signify that Loeb's star is fading; it's equally likely, though, that this second album is merely the sound of a songwriter stumbling toward adulthood with a sophomore's two left feet.
The endearing naiveté and frothy, indie-rock guitar of her debut album, Tails, have been replaced on Firecracker by staid arrangements and lackluster riffs.
Loeb's chops should improve with practice; whether or not she herself is going to grow up remains to be seen.
