Firefox (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Firefox is a 1982 Warner Brothers film with Clint Eastwood as director, producer and star.
The film details an American plot to steal a highly advanced Soviet fighter aircraft (MiG-31 "Firefox") which is capable of Mach 6, is invisible to radar, and carries weapons controlled by thought.
Eastwood stars as Maj. Mitchell Gant, a Vietnam veteran who infiltrates the Soviet Union, aided by his ability to speak Russian and a network of dissidents and sympathizers.

 Firefox (1982)
It’s was a great movie with a solid story, thoroughly enjoyable except for the shocking and equally depressing finale.
The thing about Firefox is that by the time Gant reaches the jet, you’ve invested so much time in the viewing that it would be pointless to not hang with it until the conclusion.
As is often the case with movies from the 80’s, I’ve pretty much come to expect a certain level of video defects.

The premise behind Firefox is interesting as it is about the United States secret attempt to steal a state of the art warplane from under the noses of the Russians.
The first half of Firefox is a spy thriller while the second half of the film turns into a pure action movie with some of the best special effects seen in movies at the time.

Firefox has been re-released on DVD and the original novel Firefox by Craig Thomas is also available in paperback.

Firefox seems to have an inability to deal with a lot of data coming down at one time.
The problem is that firefox doesn’t spawn a new thread for each of the plugins that it opens, instead it simply uses the existing one.
Firefox is a neat idea, but I think, much like John Heinz Kerry, people are so determined to do away with the current evil that they’ve forgotten to propose a workable other option.

Movie Review - Firefox - eFilmCritic
Firefox runs a healthy 135 minutes, most of it (much as I hate to say it) deadly dull.
Based on the novel by Craig Thomas (and adapted by Alex Lasker and William Wellman), Firefox is a simple case of three or four extremely worthwhile sequences mired amidst an overbaked and rambling narrative.
The fact that the film’s politics are woefully outmoded doesn’t necessarily prevent one from enjoying it (it’s not the film’s fault that time marches on); it’s that the flick as a whole is fairly dry and arid and fairly uneventful.
