		FireHouse is an American glam metal band formed in Charlotte, NC in 1988.
		The band released its self-titled debut FireHouse in 1990 which provided the hit singles "Don't Treat Me Bad", "All She Wrote", and "Love Of A Lifetime".
		At the 1991 American Music Awards, FireHouse won the award for Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band, chosen over Nirvana and Alice in Chains.

		I'd been thinking of getting a Firehouse Five Plus Two cd for many years, but it was the recent passing of Ward Kimball (the founder of the group and the animator behind such famous Disney characters like Jiminy Cricket) that made me search for their cds on Amazon.
		I have always enjoyed the taped performances I've seen by the group (you can catch them on the "Disneyland, USA" DVD released last year), but listening to the music--a frentic, frantic, and altogether fun collection--one can really sense that these men, so reknowned for their artistic talent, were blessed with a multiplicty of talents.

		There are many reasons to think the Firehouse Five are not worthy of your attention.
		(Two members, Ward Kimball and Frank Thomas, were part of Disney's famous “Nine Old Men”, the key animators on Disney films for close to 40 years.) They wore ridiculous uniforms, including fire hats; most of their album covers feature an old fire truck which, yes, they owned and, yes, drove to gigs in.
		In 1969, twenty years later (hence the title), interest in traditional jazz had dwindled and most of the original revival groups had stopped playing.

		A way to blow off steam after a hard day's work at the Walt Disney Studios.
		That's right, The Firehouse Five Plus Two played for the sheer joy of it, and it showed in every record they made for Lester Koenig's Good Time Jazz label.
		This 1960 release is the single best example of all that was great about the band.
