The Firhill club had initially benefited from an SPL vote earlier this month when Caley failed to gain the eight votes needed to allow promotion in a groundshare agreement with Aberdeen.
Firhill chairman Tom Hughes had initially claimed the club would accept the decision and begin preparing for life in Division One.
Firhill chief executive Alan Dick confirmed the Jags' decision - on the same day the SPL fixture list was published.

Scotsman.com Sport - Partick Thistle FC - Bairns prove that it's Firhill for thrills
The travelling contingent just about filled one end of the stadium, cheering on a team that cannot stop scoring at the moment - 16 goals in three games is a commendable feat by any standards, and they chalked up No. 17 before quarter of an hour had elapsed.
The ploy paid off in the 25th minute when Latapy stroked the ball into the path of Duffy, who chipped over Kenny Arthur from the edge of the area for his second of the match.
Some un-complementary banter broke out around Firhill at the loss of this second goal, but the plain fact was that the score did not flatter the visitors.

The Australian branch founded in 1875 by the Aberdonian William Hogarth, 3rd son of William Hogarth of Firhill, tended to used this design on their signet rings, but in the current generations they are believed to be reverting to the correct Pegasus's head (in which the wings are attached to the shoulders and not separated).
The Firhill arms, whose most recent matriculation was in 1970 (Scots are expected to rematriculate, when the descent is in a straight line, at least every second generation), have for crest a Pegasus head Or winged Azure, each wing charged with an estoile as in the Arms.
This crest may be lawfully worn within a strap-and-buckle by Hogarth clansmen, but it may not be lawfully used without the strap-and-buckle (nor are the arms available for use by anyone whose surname happens to be Hogarth, despite what the bucketshops pretend).

As they threw caution to the wind and pushed men forward in a desperate attempt to snatch an equaliser they almost lost another goal right at the death as David Evans sent Allan Ramsay racing in on goal but the substitute swung wildly at the ball and fired his effort way over.
Linlithgow, however, have shown enough in the previous rounds of the competition to suggest that they are more than capable of bouncing back from the disappointment of yesterday’s defeat and when the Scottish Junior Cup starts all over again in September their minds will, inevitably, turn to booking another trip to Firhill to make amends.
