Firhill Stadium - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Located on Firhill Road in the Maryhill district of Glasgow, the record attendance for a Thistle game was against Rangers F.C. in 1922 when 49,838 people attended.
This was built in 2002 to meet the Scottish Premier League criteria on stadium capacity, which stated at the time that member clubs must have 10,000 seats in their ground.
In 1996, Firhill was the site of the Scottish national rugby league team's first game on home soil, a victory over their Irish counterparts.

Firhill Stadium is the home ground of the Scottish football club, Partick Thistle F.C..
Also in December 2005 Firhill became the temporary home of Glasgow’s professional Rugby Union team, Glasgow Warriors, when they moved from their previous base at Hughenden.
Ironically this criteria was changed at a later date to only 6,000 seats, which not only allowed for the relegation of Partick Thistle, but meant they had spent much of their resources on a stand that under new regulations was unneccesary.

They're a friendly lot, by and large, and it was interesting to note the rival fans mingling in the pubs before kick-off.
"Firhill for the thrills" became the club's motto and the fans loved it then, as they do now.

The first half proved to be a highly competitive, feisty affair with the Scottish giving as good as they got, and that was plenty, from a Maori side that tackled as ferociously as any side in the competition.
The first score on 10 minutes came with its own dress rehearsal after Smith claimed a try from close range but the video referee confirmed what most in the stadium already knew, that he was held up short.
This sparked the Scottish revival but it was not enough and despite the sterling efforts of captain Danny Russell to lift his side they were doomed to be beaten by the narrowest of margins.

While St Mirren may be relieved to hear that Firhill is at least available, if necessary, the Love Street chairman, Stewart Gilmour, insists that the Paisley club is still optimistic about the chances of a retail development being permitted on the site of their traditional home.
