Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA-Two earthquakes measuring 3.6 and 3.5 degrees on the Richter scale jolted the cities of Firouzabad and Assalouyeh in the southern provinces of Fars and Bushehr Sunday, respectively.
The tremor was epicentered in an area measuring 52.8 degrees in longitude and 28.47 degrees in latitude, the report added.
Firouzabad is located 100km southwest of the provincial capital city Shiraz.

Following three decades of inactivity, research studies and excavations at the historical site of Firouzabad, Fars province, was recently taken up by a renowned German archeologist, Dietrich Hoff.
According to ISNA, Dr. Hoff was involved in excavations at Firouzabad prior to 1979.
Director of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Office in Firouzabad Omid Pirouz Daqouqi-Esfahani said that the objective of the excavation is to identify the lofty ideals of Emperor Aredeshir Babakan (Artaxerxes), founder of the Sassanid dynasty who was a prominent personality.
