First Coalition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
French arms established the Batavian Republic as a satellite state (May 1795) and gained the Prussian Rhineland by the first Treaty of Basel.
North of the Alps, Archduke Charles of Austria redressed the situation in 1796, but Napoleon carried all before him against Sardinia and Austria in northern Italy (1796–1797) near the Po Valley, culminating in the peace of Leoben and the Treaty of Campo Formio (October 1797).
The First Coalition collapsed, leaving only Britain in the field (or rather, on the water) fighting against France.

 First Response Coalition Blog
While the conclusions in the White House review are a positive step towards "fixing the radios," citizen action in support of our first responders will be critical if we are going to ensure that policymakers follow through on their commitments.
As the First Response Coalition's new Executive Director and someone who has been involved in the emergency response community for years, I am very excited about the potential of this organization to positively affect the lives of first responders and the American people.
An important first step towards "fixing the radios" was made when the President recently signed legislation that sets February 17, 2009 as the "hard date" for the transition from analog to digital television.

Continuity or Politikwechsel? the First Federal Red-Green Coalition - Questia Online Library   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
This article examines the first red-green federal coalition in the light of the rules and practices that, in the course of five decades, have come to define coalition politics in Germany's party-state.
First, while recent coalition studies have stressed the importance of contextual influences (such as constitutional rules or the party system) for German and western European coalition politics, I argue that informal rules, mechanisms, and norms are no less critical.
My second argument is that however novel their coalition was in some respect, in terms of adhering to informal rules, mechanisms, and norms, the SPD and Greens have largely followed precedents set by previous federal coalitions.

George III said that the coalition was "the most daring and unprincipled act that the annals of this kingdom ever produced".
The coalition, and the damage it did to Fox's reputation and credibility, could partially explain his long years in opposition: people no longer felt that they could trust him.
He had weakened the coalition at its inception by refusing to create peerages whist it was in office - thus removing some of its chance of securing support - and now he had the opportunity to destroy it.

In turn, "[t]his would subject the officers' and their families to harassment and intimidation which would impact the officers' execution of their duties and would compromise the safety and security of the officers, their families, and the institution." It is out of this concern for staff safety and institutional security that Calderon adopted Procedure 770.
Thus, the district court and the Coalition liken this case to a line of cases in which the Supreme Court recognized that the First Amendment protects the rights of the press and the public to observe certain governmental proceedings.
In particular, "challenges to prison restrictions that are asserted to inhibit First Amendment interests must be analyzed in terms of the legitimate policies and goals of the corrections system, to whose custody and care the prisoner has been committed in accordance with due process of law." The first coalition dispute of the second Sharon cabinet is in full cry, with Mafdal threatening to leave the government over the Trade and Employment Ministry's decision to suspend enforcement of Sabbath-closing laws.
Ironically, the decision that precipitated the crisis was not made by Shinui; the Trade and Employment Minister, Ehud Olmert, is an old Likud stalwart who governed Jerusalem for ten years in cooperation with the religious parties.
Adding Shas and UTJ to the coalition wouldn't be an option with Shinui in the government, and ditching Shinui wouldn't be one without the National Union and Mafdal, so Avoda's bargaining power would be greatly increased.
