This is only the second time that a special edition of MinistryMatters has been produced around one theme; the first, 1998's FacesandMinistries, served as an overview of the staff and work of the national office of the Anglican Church of Canada.
The issue was produced in conjunction with the convening of the 1998 General Synod in Montreal.
In cases where an official position is represented, that is indicated on the page or in the text in question.

The purpose of these special issues that EC puts out are to encourage and assistant those who are beginning editors, or more experienced editors that could perhaps be blessed by them.
First of all, it gives your readers many more specific ideas of what to write about and submit each time (be sure to give them ideas!).
First think of any way that you could possibly be at fault, no matter how bizarre the accusation or complaint is. Apologize for any fault you have, then go on from there.

 Special Issue 1
This volume, the first special issue of the Journal of Cetacean Research and Management, traces the work of the IWC (International Whaling Commission) Scientific Committee on the issue of chemical pollutants and cetaceans.
The issue was placed as a standing item on the Committee’s agenda and in 1984, the Committee adopted a standard approach for the collection of samples and presentation of results for organochlorine analyses (IWC, 1985).
The species selected were the three considered by the Workshop: bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and white whales, plus an additional species, the Amazon river dolphin, chosen to specifically address the possible impact of heavy metals.

 Presentation Special Issue 1
Several of the past issues of the magazine are now sold out: most of the issues in the comic book format (before #16), issues #24 to 26, 29 to 31, 33, 34, 36 and now 37.
However, reprinting an old issue is not very practical because we must print at least several thousands to keep the cost low and we cannot be sure that we would sell that many reprints.
It was suppose to be called simply a "Special Issue" or "eXtra Issue" (hence the "x" in PAX #1), but the readers who were writing or e-mailing to have more information about it began to called it the "Best Of PA" and we kept the name.

The aims and scope of the Special Issue is to bridge the gap between prenatal diagnosis and IVF.
Preimplantation genetics is a rapidly developing field and involves many issues, such as the genetics of infertility, genetic analysis in human gametes and embryos, cloning, and preimplantation genetic diagnosis.

 Third Issue of Social Work and Christianity
The publication of this special issue will officially launch an increase in the number of issues of SWC from two to three per year for the first time in our journal’s 28-year history.
The decision to expand to a third issue was driven largely by the feedback NACSW received from its membership in last summer’s member survey, which indicated that members count Social Work and Christianity as one of their most valued benefits.
NACSW is current recruiting guess editors on selected themes for special issues in 2003, 2004, and beyond, with a focus on helping SWC focus in more depth on topics of particular interest to Christians in social work.

The first volume was published in September 1989 to coincide with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first New Zealand Doctor Who television broadcast.
The first volume was to have been The Third Doctor Who Dictionary, but work was postponed and later abandoned when, half-way through the book it was realised the the research for this era was rather incomplete.
Published in April 1997, this special was distributed free to all TSV subscribers and celebrated ten years and fifty issues of the fanzine.

 NMGCS 2003 Special Issue Flat Frog
After some extensive repairs were made by the Island Mould Company to ensure that the mold was usable and properly fit, the mold was delivered to Mosser Glass to produce our first Special Issue.
We decided to have it made in green slag for this first issue and it turned out to be fantastic.
The Society purchased the molds from L. Wright to preserve the molds for the protection of prior issues and for use in making the commemoratives the Society produces for their members each year.

While our Chapter’s efforts on issues of tobacco and youth, violence, child advocacy, legislation, and managed care have been significant, the problems are ongoing and will not be resolved within the foreseeable future.
The pressures to understand each child individually, the diversion of funds to special education, the need for classroom accommodations, and the outside opinions of professionals were discussed as possible obstacles to the appreciation and support of children with learning disabilities, attentional disorders, and other “handicapping” conditions.
The first party was 26 years ago with just a few children and parents and four volunteer doctor musicians, named the Uncalled Four, who entertained.
