FirstEnergy Stadium is proof that a city does not need a new stadium in order to draw fans.
FirstEnergy Stadium is really nothing too special as a park.
Reading should be an example for all those cities complaining because they can't draw with their "old", luxury box-less parks.

Editorials: Downtown stadium an interesting idea   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
It was easy to understand Reading Phillies owner Craig Stein when he said he is happy with FirstEnergy Stadium and would be reluctant to consider leaving if the city built a new facility along the riverfront in downtown Reading.
A new stadium might be able to include many of those features, but it also would include many changes for the fans and the teams, and not all of those changes would be for the better.
A baseball stadium, envisioned for the waterfront somewhere south of RACC, would be another major step in the revitalization of that section of Reading, attracting visitors from April to the end of August.
