In the township the population is spread out with 35.2% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who are 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the township is $65,000, and the median income for a family is $71,875.

The congressional township of 135, range 36, was organized as the civil township of Bluffton on July 17, 1878.
It is bounded on the north by Blowers township; on the west by Newton; on the south by Compton; and on the east by Wadena county.
Leaf river enters this township on the southern side, a mile south of Bluffton, and meanders northeast until it reaches a point one mile east of Bluffton, where it flows due east entering Wadena countv from section twenty-five of this township.

From the time of the arrival of the first explorers in northern Minnesota to the settlement of Red Lake Falls led by Pierre Bottineau in 1876 it is apparent that a steady contact was maintained by the French Canadians with the area for over two hundred years.
The Indian population of northern Minnesota was not high.
It is apparent, therefore, that from the early nineteenth century communication was developing and settlements were being created from southeastern Minnesota to the northwestern corner of the State where Pembina marked the border on the north.

Eighteen residents and legal voters petitioned to organize their community as a township, and on June 7, 1904, Normanna was established as Township 52N of Range 13, with Township 53N of Range 13 added sometime in July of that year which then separated off to become NorthStar Township in 1985.
Although the population of the township increased only minimally from 1900 to 1950, Normanna has seen substantial growth from 1950 to present-doubling in population from 1960-1980.
There is an abundance of water sources in Normanna Township; they are in the form of wetlands, marshes, small lakes, and streams.

Samuel Fisher, and a son, Joseph, who came to Franklin County in 1833 and married Matilda Crawford.
