Chen became furious and proceeded to attack the Japanese with punches and kicks.
Jackie Chan was put into a sequel called Fist of Fury 2, it was his first major lead role.

Fist of Fury is considered by many as the best Bruce Lee film ever made, which is probably why it was followed by two Bruce Li sequels (1975, 1978 respectively) and a Jackie Chan effort, New Fist of Fury (1976).
My first experience of Fist of Fury was the 1980s UK VHS release (on the Rank label) and I recall that I bailed out less than a third of the way into the film, returning the tape to the video store I'd rented it from without bothering to watch it.

Given the knowledge of Chan's future career, New Fist of Fury's poorly conceived script and ham-handed direction might have been overcome had the movie been made about four years later.

Still, in these days of heavy wire and computer use, it was nice seeing some (relatively) old-fashioned ass-beating, and there are a few scenes (such as one where Chen Jun battles a group of masked Japanese assassins) that are really outstanding.
I really can't say how much fans of the original Fist of Fury will enjoy this version; I will say that it is immensely better than the crop of Bruce Lee clones that came after his death.
While it is almost absurdly melodramatic in parts, there is a sort of charm running through the film brought about through the actors' performances that makes Fist of Fury a worthy viewing for martial arts fans.

The story is choppy, the acting is decent but impossible to become immersed in, and the worst part is that the action scenes are severely under-cranked.
As a whole, this version of Fist of Fury is more of a treat for Donnie Yen fans than anything else.
This series was a real labor of love for Donnie and despite its flaws, it has merit on the basis that it expands on the original story by filling in the history and motivations of the main characters.

The first fight scene, in particular, is an example of how the timing of the choreography is exact and perfectly in synch with the movement of the camera.
While 'The Big Boss' made Bruce Lee a star, 'Fist of Fury' cemented his position as the world's finest martial arts movie star and nobody since has quite managed to carry the same on screen presence.
The camera techniques used might be quite basic when compared to today's' films with fast editing and special effects but 'Fist of Fury' remains one of the most striking and impressive martial arts movies ever.

But when you watch the movie the credits they say The Fist of Fury, there is no II.
I know Bruce Li made a Fist of Fury III and after looking around the net I discovered that this movie is actually Fist of Fury III, not II.

I finally got my hands on Donnie Yen's Fist of Fury: Sworn Revenge, which was pushed as a prequel to Bruce Lee's Chinese Connection and his own version of Fist of Fury, and I was breathless behind the storyline, the colorful characters, the Cantonese w/t English subtitles setup(authenticity), the special affects and the action.
I also recommend Fist of Legend(Jet Li) which is another modern remake of Fist of Fury, but with a different twist.

New Fist Of Fury began filming and it soon became obvious to Jacky that Lo was not going to let him do his own thing.
