Following activation by the contact factor or tissue factor pathways the coagulation cascade is maintained in a prothrombotic state by the continued activation of FVIII and FIX to form the tenase complex, until it is down regulated by the anticoagulant pathways.
Factor VIII turned out to be deficient in the clinically recognised but etiologically elusive hemophilia A; it was identified in the 1950s and is alternatively called antihemophilic globulin due to its capability to correct hemophilia A. Factor IX was discovered in 1952 in a young patient with hemophilia B named Stephen Christmas (1947-1993).
Factors III and VI are unassigned, as thromboplastin was never identified, and actually turned out to consist of ten further factors, and accelerin was found to be activated Factor V. All mammals have an extremely closely related blood coagulation process, using a combined cellular and serine protease process.

High-molecular weight kininogen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
High-molecular weight kininogen (HMWK), also known as the Williams-Fitzgerald-Flaujeac factor or the Fitzgerald factor is a protein from the blood coagulation system as well as the kinin-kallikrein system.
HMWK is one of the early participants of the intrinsic pathway of coagulation, together with Factor XII (Hageman factor) and prekallikrein.
The existence of HMWK was hypothesised in the 1970s when several patients were described with a deficiency of a class of plasma protein and a prolonged bleeding time and partial thromboplastin time (PTT).

Factor V circulates in the blood, 80% in the plasma and the remaining 20% in the a-granules of platelets.
Factor V Leiden is still functional and fulfills the same purpose in the coagulation scheme as does normal Factor V. In the normal breakdown of activated factor V, Protein C attacks arginine at the 506 position, which then allows cleavage at amino acid positions 306 and 679.
Factor V Leiden degrades very slowly and the prolonged activity of this factor tend to promote thrombosis at a rate 5 to 10 times greater than normal in the heterozygote, but if the individual is homozygous for the trait, the risk increases 50 to 100 times.

 Ella Fitzgerald On Verve Records!
Fitzgerald was born out of wedlock in Newport News, Virginia, to a laundress mother and a father who disappeared when she was three years old.
In the late 1940s Fitzgerald began to tour with the Jazz at the Philharmonic troupe, working with such leading musicians as saxophonist Lester Young, trumpeter Roy Eldridge, pianist Oscar Peterson, and bassist Ray Brown, to whom she was married for four years.
They were instrumental in expanding Fitzgerald’s appeal beyond that of a "jazz singer" and creating a demand for her in venues not usually open to jazz artists.

F12 - coagulation factor XII (Hageman factor)
Because marked augmentation of the titer of Hageman factor is brought about by the administration of estrogens in humans and by prolactin or estrogen infusion in hypophysectomized rats, we measured the plasma concentrations of estradiol, prolactin, and clotting factors participating in surface-mediated reactions of coagulation in survivors of myocardial infarction.
The effect of the activating substances for transferring the Hageman factor into its active form are represented with the role of the pre-kallikrein (Fletcher factor) and of the highly molecular kininogen (Fitzgerald factor) being referred to.

This involves circulating coagulation factors, which act as enzymes [which require activation] and cofactors (factors V and VIII), calcium and platelets (platelets provide a source of phospholipid [PF3] and a binding surface upon which the coagulation cascade proceeds).
In fact, factor XII (the first component of the intrinsic pathway) is more important for the generation of bradykinin and stimulation of fibrinolysis than it is for initiation of coagulation.
Tissue factor is expressed by endothelial cells, subendothelial tissue and monocytes, with expression being upregulated by cytokines (TNFalpha, IL-6).

Scott Fitzgerald was a reputable author—best known for his novel The Great Gatsby—whose work vividly portrayed the excesses of The Jazz Age of the 1920s and 1930s, and incorporates direct references to personal challenges he experienced, such as the mental illness of his wife, Zelda Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald's second story collection, though it includes major work such as "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz" and the experimental novella May Day, is marred by filler and weak efforts that even Fitzgerald seems to recognize in his depreciatory annotated table of contents.
Fitzgerald's fourth and final novel to be published during his lifetime is his most ambitious, an attempt to summarize the collapse of American values through the deterioration of expatriate psychiatrist Dick Diver, who marries his troubled patient, Nicole.
