  Five Classics Summary
The Five Classics (Wujing) were lengthy collections of prose and poetry that formed the core of the Chinese Confucian canon from the Western Han dynasty (206 BCE–6 CE) through the Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279), when another collection, the Four Books, began to gain prominence through the influence of Neo-Confucianism.
The Five Classics's canonical status was cemented in later centuries by the frequent appearance of new commentaries and by the court's expectation that most prospective candidates for government office would be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the works in their essays for civil service examinations.
The Classic of History (書經 Shū Jīng) is a collection of documents and speeches alleged to have been written by rulers and officials of the early Zhou period and before.

For example, the memory span of five words that Hayes obtained when each word was drawn at random from a set of 1000 English monosyllables might just as appropriately have been called a memory span of 15 phonemes, since each word had about three phonemes in it.

Classics in the History of Psychology -- Thurstone (1934)
If there are five tests with a single common factor and a specific for each test, then the method involves the assumption of one common and five specific factors, or six factors in all.
The table of coefficients for the sixty personality traits was then analyzed by means of multiple factor methods[4] and we found that five factors are sufficient to account for the coefficients.
It would seem, therefore, that as far as the five basic factors are concerned, whatever be their nature, these several traits are very much alike as far as can be determined by the way in which we actually use these adjectives in describing people.
