It has been suggested that this article or section be merged into Five regent houses.
They were counted as one of the Sekke, the five regent houses and therefore one of the most politically powerful families among the kuge (court officials).
As one of the Sekke, the five regent houses, the Kujō clan monopolized the offices of Sessho and Kampaku along with the Konoe, Takatsukasa, Nijo and Ichijo clans from the 12th century until 1867.

Sekke, the Five regent houses (五摂家; go-seike or go-sekke) is a collective term for those five families of Fujiwara clan, who were regarded entitled to the position of Sekkan in Imperial Court of Kyoto, Japan, and monopolized the position between 12th and 19th century.
The five houses (or families) are Konoe, Takatsukasa, Kujo, Ichijo (一条家; -ke) and Nijo (二条家; -ke).
Fujiwara clan had also other families, but traditionally only these five were eligible for regentship.

Five fraternity chapters were already present on campus, Beta Theta Pi being the first organized in 1869, followed by Phi Delta Theta, 1891; Sigma Alpha Epsilon, 1892; Kappa Sigma, 1902; and Sigma Chi, 1903.
Gamma Omicron stayed at its off-campus house only three years when the University gave in and built houses on the North-Western edge of the campus for the fraternities.
The Navy had established a flight training center at the school and in order to house the cadets, the fraternity space was "nationalized." When the war ended and the great influx of servicemen began, Gamma Omicron's membership had dwindled to a pitiful few, headed by the very able Commander Bill Deen.

Regent Mark Semmens, who heads the board's budget committee, said the board will begin discussions on the disparate fees students are forced to pay at the different units that make up the University System.
This week, they are expected to adopt a policy to smooth out the process of transferring credits between the units and implement a uniform grading policy for all the colleges and universities.
