Fivefold Titulary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fivefold Titulary of an Egyptian Pharaoh is the standard naming convention taken by the kings of Ancient Egypt.
It symbolises worldly power and holy might and also acts as a sort of mission statement for the reign of a monarch (sometimes it even changed during the reign).
In the Middle Kingdom, the full titulary was sometime written in a single cartouche, as in this example from Senusret I, from Beni Hasan.

 Inscription of Khnumhotep II
His mouth saith: "The majesty of {the full titulary of} Amenemhet (II), who is given life, stability, satisfaction, like Re, forever, appointed me to be hereditary prince, count, governor of the eastern highlands, priest of Horus, and [priest] of Pakht; to the inheritance of my mother's father in Menet-Khufu.
Another honor accorded me (was): my eldest son, Nakht, born of Kheti was appointed to the rule of the Jackal nome, to the inheritance of his mother's father; made sole companion; appointed to the forefront of Middle Egypt.
There were given to him all ranks of nobility by the majesty of {fivefold titulary of} Sesostris II, who is given life, stability, satisfaction, like Re, forever.

To: Dear listmembers, I would like to know if there are any good books listing known pharaohs (possibly including Persian, Greek and Roman kings), with their titulary written in hieroglyphics (with all its variants); and possibly also the transliteration and translation.
The fivefold titularies are given in glyphs, transliteration and translation.
Including, as you wish, "Persian, Greek and Roman kings, with their titulary written in hieroglyphics (with all its variants); and possibly also the transliteration" but without translation.

 The sequence of kings
Even though it now seems likely that "Ptolemy VII" never reigned, even as a coregent, the underlined system, introduced in the Real-Encyclopädie, is adopted here because of its general acceptance by classical historians.
For some kings additional Horus or Two Ladies names are known, and Ptolemy IX took on a complete new titulary in his second reign.
Some of the royal names of Ptolemy I and Ptolemy XV, which are not completely known, are recoverable from particular inscriptions; these are discussed at the appropriate place.

ANCIENT EGYPT : The Shabaka Stone of the British Museum
LINE 1 (horizontal) is Shabaka's titulary, with its (as usual) fivefold royal names, except for the surgical erasure of the final, "nomen" name in the last cartouche ("Shebek", an Egyptianized form of the Nubian "Shabaka" or "Shabaqo" - "Sebaq-tawy" probably means : "He who blesses the Two Lands").
LINE 1 (TITULARY) is larger than any other line on the stone and written in almost symmetrical (mirror) script, centered on the hieroglyph "life", and reading out therefrom, to both left and right.
This consists of the titulary followed by the colophon.

After the presumed death of the eldest son, the prince Amenhotep was designated as the next in line for succession.
Upon his coronation, possible to a co-regency, the prince, using his birth Son of Ra name became Amenhotep IV, and acquired his fivefold titulary, of which his throne (nsw-bity) name was "Nefer-kheperu-ra" ('Beautiful are the Forms of Ra').

ANCIENT EGYPT : The Cannibal Hymn in the tomb of Pharaoh Unis
"The institution of kingship was projected as the sole force which held the country together, and the dual nature of the monarchy was expressed in the king's regalia, in his titulary, and in royal rituals and festivals.
This concept -the harmony of opposites, a totality embracing pared contrasts- chimed so effectively with the Egyptian world-view that the institution of kingship acquired what has been called a 'transcendent significance'.
As each Pharaoh had his own titulary, he had his own burial ritual and mortuary complex, reflecting a variety of local (nomic) traditions at work around him.
