Flag of Yemen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The national flag of Yemen was adopted on May 22, 1990, the same day that North Yemen and South Yemen unified.
The North used the flag on the left (the flag of the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen), from 1927 to 1962, when it became the Yemen Arab Republic.
The Yemen Arab Republic used a flag similar to the present-day flag of Yemen, except with a green star in the center of the white stripe.

Bahrain's flag as we know it now was formally adopted in 1932 and the Qatari differences in size and color (said to be what becomes of red as it fades in the Gulf sun - a fanciful tale) seem to be largely an effort to make the Qatar flag DIFFERENT from the Bahrani banner.
In 1949 the shade was slightly modified and the serration reached 1/3 of the flag.
