A very shy bird by nature, the trumpeter swan is the subject of intense study in an attempt to learn how to ensure their survival.
Trumpeter swans require a large, undisturbed territory for successful nesting, and if their chosen area is infringed upon repeatedly, they will generally abandon their nest and eggs completely.

Buccin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The visual appeal of band members in uniform playing instruments with zoomorphic heads (in addition to the buccin, serpents, bass horns, bassoons and Russian bassoons—a form of upright serpent—all were made with such fanciful bells) was indisputable and manufacturers were quick to supply more and more exotic designs.
The sound of the buccin is something of a cross between a trombone and a French horn.
The buccin should not be confused with the buccina a brass instrument of different construction used in the ancient Roman army, which became an ancestor for both the trumpet and the trombone.

 Illustrated Bagpipe Glossary
The final opening of a bell may be wide, like a trumpet, or it may narrow back down to a small opening.
The name comes from the fact that the valve is nothing more than a flap of leather that is mounted so as to occlude the airway when air pressure becomes greater on the inside than on the outside.
Bellows-operated pipes commonly have two flap valves, one in the air-inlet of the bellows (usually in one of the cheeks) and the other in the connecting pipe between the bellows and the bag.

Birds   (Site not responding. Last check: )
These two captive trumpeters, however, had their wings clipped long ago—swans can live into their twenties—and today they waddled onto the grassy berm as Sladen coaxed the female along: “Come on, Yo-Yo, come on.” She was followed by a male named Des, his wings outstretched, his mouth open in a hiss.
Members of The Trumpeter Swan Society (founded in 1968 to advocate for the bird's welfare) have also campaigned for a restoration of trumpeters to the East, bolstering their argument with a paper published by Philip Rogers and Donald Hammer in a 1998 issue of the society's journal.

eMedicine - Velopharyngeal Insufficiency : Article by Michael J Biavati, MD
The procedure aims to develop a central flap of tissue to obturate the midline of the pharyngeal port and decrease the degree of air escape into the nasal cavity.
The flap is raised down to the level of the prevertebral fascia, creating a tissue flap of superior constrictor muscle with its overlying mucosa.
The flap then is sutured to the nasal surface of the palate by incorporating it into the split repair.

Otolaryngology Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery
The skin from the lower bulge of the flap is moved into the defect and the skin from the upper bulge of the flap is put into the lower bulge.
This shows you the concept of a lip-switch flap, that is, when you have had to take a lot of one lip, you can sometimes use tissue from the other lip to even out the defect so that you are sharing the amount of the defect between the two lips.
It is an inappropriate flap therefore to use for someone who may have uncontrolled vomiting like an alcoholic or perhaps a problem for someone who has poorly controlled seizures or other medical contraindications to having temporary difficulty accessing the oral cavity.

 Origami: Complexity in Crease (Again)
I focused my attention on a class of bases that can be oriented so that all of the layers run up and down and all of the flaps have their tips and at least one edge in a horizontal plane.
The flaps have a one-to-one correspondence with the graph’s edges; similarly, the flaps’ tips match up with the “leaf nodes,” which are the nodes that have exactly one edge connected to them.
If we have two flaps, each 1 unit long, then the separation between their leaf vertices must be at least 2 units, and you can’t fit two points that far apart into a 1-unit square.

At one stage in the 19th century they nearly ousted trumpets from the orchestra, and it was only when Louis Armstrong declared his preference for the trumpet in the 1920s that they fell out of favour in the jazz world.
For instance, Broekstra thinks that Louis Armstrong's switch from cornet to trumpet, which heralded the eclipse of the cornet, might be a good example of so-called "disruptive technologies" that lurk on the periphery of the business world and then abruptly drive entrenched technologies into extinction.

I'm a trumpet player - i'm on here cause i'm trying to find some info to help a friend - but the words 'some people just don't have the lips' is completely wrong.
Try this also: relax your lips and blow just enough air to get them to flap gently (not buzz yet, just flap/flutter) - The sound effect will be kind of similar to when people 'Bbbrrrr!' on a cold day - just without the 'brrr' sound.
Also, Trumpet playing shouldn't effect clarinet so long as you remember to play them like completely different instruments.
