Elorde, who turned pro in 1951 at age 16, had his first 11 fights in his hometown of Cebu, Philippines, winning 10 and suffering one kayo loss.
Although Elorde didn't get another title shot for the rest of the decade, he remained a ranked contender and eventually won national and regional titles as a lightweight.
Elorde's fall began in June of 1966 when he lost the Oriental lightweight title to Yoshiaki Numata via 12-round verdict.

Hands down to Elorde for defending his title for 7 years (that is a record) and for that reason, he was recognized as the one of the best if not the best Asian boxer.
If we are going to argue that Elorde was better, then we should also see the point that the opponents of Manny have the leisure of watching all of his previous fights everytime he wants so as to familiarize himself with Manny's move.
Flash is a legend and a hall of famer.
