Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe is a 1940 twelve episode serial film about Flash Gordon.
Ming the Merciless is suspected to be behind the plague, and Flash Gordon is sent with Dr.
Plot points taken from the immediately preceding serial, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars include the Rock People as derived from the Clay People of the former, and the bringing-back-to-life of people assumed by Captain Torch to have died.

Flash Gordon was featured in three serials starring Buster Crabbe: Flash Gordon (1936), Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938), and Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940).
Flash even develops what appears to be an echoing affection for Azura, in spite of her rather ghastly treatment of him and his friends, though he tells her that Ghor-dhan's love for her is dust.
If Flash is the reincarnation of Ghor-dhan, it would be ironic, because the kingdom of Syk that is the remnant of Ghor-dhan's realm is perhaps the most cold and cruel on Mongo, Azura, his long-lost love, is callously cruel and arguably insane, and Ming seems to be an expatriat of that same realm.

VH1.com : Movies : Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe [Serial] : Review
Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe is a bracing, dazzling movie serial, 12 chapters of nonstop action that are as entertaining today as they were in 1940.
Each of the three Flash Gordon serials reflected elements of popular culture sensibility and contemporary history that were unique to the particular time in which it was made.
The third serial, Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe, reflected the world of 1939-1940; in place of the Oriental robes that he wore in the first serial, Emperor Ming (Charles B. Middleton) now wears a European-style uniform cut along military lines and he employs stormtrooper-type soldiers in his attempt to conquer Mongo.
