	History
		In 1992 the Flat Rock Community Services Program was born when one of the residents who had lived on our campus for over 10 years was ready to transition into the community.
		Flat Rock was also able to take advantage of state and federal funds that were available to complete the funding for the project.
		Flat Rock's ministry continues to grow out of concern for vulnerable children and adolescents.

		Flat Rock was not seen on any more maps after the Civil War (1865) because of the growth of the city of Lithonia.
		The Flat Rock Methodist Episcopal Church changed in 1971 when the Central Jurisdiction was abolished and the Flat Rock Church became Flat Rock United Methodist, a part of the Atlanta- Decatur-Oxford District of the North Georgia Conference in the United Methodist Church Jurisdiction.
		Land was purchased by the Trustees in October 1996 on the corner of Flat Rock Road and Evanmill Road to build a new church and it was moved into on April 2004, with Pastor Harold Cobb residing.
