Fleetwood Mac (formed in 1967) are an influential and commercially successful British/American rock band.
Huge pressure was placed on Fleetwood Mac to release a successful follow-up album, which, when combined with their newfound wealth, led to creative and personal tensions, fuelled by large amounts of drug and alcohol consumption.
The resulting album was Rumours in 1977, in which the band laid bare the inherent emotional turmoil experienced at that time.

Fleetwood Mac Fleetwood Mac is a rock group led by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (whose names partially form the groups name), who had their biggest hits in the 1970s.
The album peaked at number one on the Billboard charts (where it remained for only one week, but set a record for most weeks on the chart before reaching the top position).

Fleetwood Mac went through several personnel changes that resulted in the transition from a heavy British blues band (led by Peter Green) to a soft rock/pop outfit struggling to find it's sound.
Fleetwood Mac sets the tone and patterns that would follow for all future FM albums; expertly crafted pop songs featuring smooth as silk harmonies and enough catchy-as-hell choruses that kept people singing along long after the record was over.
Supposedly this is her second solo album, the first coming in 1970 before she joined Fleetwood Mac, although I've hardly ever heard mention of this disc, and I doubt it's still in print in any form.

Fleetwood Mac released "English Rose" and "Then Play On" during 1969, which both indicated that the band members were expanding their music, moving away from their blues-purists roots.
The new line-up of Fleetwood Mac released their eponymous debut in 1975 and it slowly became a huge hit, reaching number one in 1976 on the strength of the singles "Over My Head," "Rhiannon," and "Say You Love Me." The album would eventually sell over five million copies in the US alone.

Even though the album was recorded 25+ years ago, the variety and skill of execution plays well today, and allows a new listener to understand why this album is considered one of the greats.
Fleetwood Mac was a band that got a great deal of attention in the 70s and 80s.
The major problem with this album is not the lyrics, the music or the vocals, but the terrible book-let which looks like a highschool project and the photographs look grainy but one has to realize that the technology back in the 70's was quite primitive and they did what they could with what they had.

Indeed until Thriller was released some six years later the album was probably the biggest selling album of the time managing as it did to amass sales of more than thirty million copies worldwide with American sales alone being responsible for eighteen million copies of the album.
For Fleetwood Mac they required even more polishing and on the first take of God Dust Woman you can hear Stevie Nicks striving for the take that would eventually be found on the finished album.

Rumours got all the attention and was the huge album, but their previous album self-titled "Fleetwood Mac" was a superior album.
Both albums have plenty of catchy, mid tempo tunes that hit the pop charts, have great harmony, and are fabulous songs.
Looking at both albums as a whole I feel that there are nine really strong songs on the earlier "FM" album and seven really strong songs on Rumours.
