 Peggy Fleming Summary
After the Olympics, Doris Fleming sought the best coach for her daughter and selected Carlo Fassi, whom she believed would help Peggy with "school figures"—the grueling and precise art of tracing figures in the ice which at that time was the major part of a skater's marks.
Fassi and Fleming proved to be a perfect match in every respect—a coach of rare ability and artistic refinement, he brought out the best in the young woman who continued to improve and win every title in her progress towards the Olympic gold medal.
In 1961, when Fleming was 12 years old, her coach William Kipp was killed in the crash of Sabena Flight 548 along with the rest of the United States figure skating team while en route to the 1961 World Figure Skating Championships.

Fleming is also the name of several Swedish noble families, some of which have been historically significant.

 Innovators - Claudia Fleming
Ensconced at New York City's Gramercy Tavern for the past six years, Fleming, 41, is renowned for her deceptively simple multipart desserts that rely on seasonal ingredients and the subtle interplay of temperatures, textures and flavors.
Instead of serving an ordinary tarte Tatin with créme fraîche, for example, Fleming makes a miniature version and pairs it with a tiny cheesecake and a "napoleon" made of alternating layers of green-apple chips and green-apple sorbet.
A self-described risk taker whose sweet-corn ice cream (inspired by Mexican cuisine) is now a summer favorite, Fleming aims to make dessert fun — an attitude that's readily apparent in her basket of warm cinnamon-sugar doughnuts and the warm chocolate soufflé served with a shot-glass-size chocolate malted and a scoop of chocolate-malted ice cream.
