Jeff Bellandi, Dorian Rooney, Eric Fonoimoana and Fletcher Dragge sit at the counter of the popular restaurant that will no longer be called Las Olas.
Dragge, the hulking guitar player for the breakthrough punk rock band Pennywise, and "Fonoi," the much-feted Olympic gold medalist, had joined forces with other volleyball luminaries and a couple of established restaurateurs to build the successful business.
Bellandi and Dragge said they hold no ill will against their counterpart to the south who, in the words of Bellandi, "has every right to do this." But the locals were bummed at having to change the name of their already thriving enterprise.

A word from the wise guys - www.theage.com.au
Forming in the small California seaside town of Hermosa Beach as the Los Angeles '80s punk scene was fading, Pennywise used the rallying cries of their hometown heroes Black Flag and Circle Jerks to help revive the genre through the '90s.
Dragge's own notorious anti-establishment behaviour saw him purposely vomit on live radio as revenge for lack of airplay.
Built around Lindberg's principles of self-empowerment and Dragge's searing riffs, Pennywise's seven studio albums rage not only against gun culture, corporatisation and police corruption, but also carry a message of hope, an optimism born out of the tragic 1996 suicide of the group's founding bassist, Jason Thirsk.

Some things have changed over the years--the guys have a little more responsibility to wives and kids and are a little more conscious of what goes on in the world--but Dragge says the band still prides itself on writing, recording and living in accordance with a punk rock ideology rooted in individuality and social/political concern.
Now, Dragge says, the philosophy of punk is dead, thanks to the "cookie cutter" bands who don't appreciate the purpose behind the music.
Dragge says that, thanks to the fans, live shows now in front of 50,000 people have the same vibe as they did back in those days of playing in front of 200-person house parties.

Pennywise - Music Downloads - Online
Using Californian hardcore as a foundation, the group incorporated funk-metal and skate-punk into their sound, developing a sound that functioned as edgy, post-punk frat rock -- it was speedy and occasionally stupidly catchy, with heavy, propulsive rhythms and positive, optimisitic lyrics that stood in pointed contrast to their grunge-addled peers.
Jim Lindberg (lead vocals), Fletcher Dragge (guitar), Byron McMackin (drums) and Jason Thirsk (bass) formed Pennywise in 1988.
In particular, Dragge became notorious for vomiting on his audience, most notoriously on DJ Ricki Rachtman at a show for the influential alternative radio station KROQ, as a veiled protest against the station.

From the scorching opening anthem, “Knocked Down” – which serves as a forum for the blistering riffs of guitarist Fletcher Dragge and Lindberg’s scowling discontent with American politics – to the electrical shocker “Closer” and beyond, these Warped Tour icons come out swinging and don’t relent.
Formed in 1988 by Lindberg, Dragge, McMackin and original bassist Jason Thirsk, Pennywise aligned with Epitaph Records in time for their heralded, eponymous 1991 disc.
An ensuing tour was highlighted by a sell-out gig at the 14,000-seat Long Beach Arena and while Jim, Fletcher, Byron and Randy took a year off for introspection, the group reemerged stronger than ever in 2003 as evidenced by the glowing accolades From The Ashes received.
