Fleurety, according to numerous occult sources, was a nocturnal, demonic entity associated with hallucinogenic substances, able to accomplish an unlimited amount of work in a single night, usually accompanied by 'a rowdy band of familiars'.
The first ordnance deployed by Fleurety was the infamous 'Black Snow' demo of 1993, a shocking barrage of tangled riffs and shrieked vocals of such high pitch that at times they resembled the sound of a person in worn shoes turning round swiftly on a polished wooden floor.
Fleurety then experienced a period of inactivity during which Nordgaren pursued a solo project and played live guitar for the rejuvenated Mayhem, and Hatlevik was wired into the keyboard-abusing position of bio-fl-mechanical maestros Dødheimsgard, in addition to dabbling in improvised noise as part of Aphrodisiac.

Fleurety - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
With 1999's mini-album "Last-Minute Lies" the band moved even further away from their fl metal origins.
In 2000, Fleurety released their hitherto last effort "Department of Apocalyptic Affairs".
This album featured an array of guest musicians from the Norwegian fl metal scene, among them members from Ulver, Mayhem, Aura Noir, Arcturus, Beyond Dawn, and Ved Buens Ende.

My favorite part occurs halfway through the disk when even the clean vocal lines degenerate into what appears to be the sound track for a Satanic porno with a pack of female lyconthropes howling passionately for their dark overlord.
In fact it may be said that Fleurety, along with Misanthropy label-mates In The Woods, are revolutionizing the whole Norwegian Black scene by injecting freshness and musical integrity into it's folds.
Fleurety are making sure that those of you who believe that the two-chord compositions of Dark Throne and Mayhem are indicative of Norwegian Black will be forced to abandon your dated Black Metal heuristics!

Having taken stock of the public reaction, FLEURETY decided to go ahead and pierce some more eardrums in 1994 with the "A Darker Shade of Evil" ep, which was essentially a re-run of the demo with an improved production.
In June 1996 and in the Autumn of 1997 FLEURETY recorded the tracks that appear in the mini-album "Last-Minute Lies".
With this album FLEURETY positioned itself firmly at the forefront of the new wave of the electro avantgarde post-Black Metal wave that has been coming from Norway in recent years.

 Fleurety: Progressive Black Metal
Black metal renegades Fleurety, consisting of the duo Alexander Nordgaren and Svein Egil Hatlevik, exhibit bravery through adventurous spirit, guided by wanderlust through nether-regions beyond nighttime forests and frozen fields serving as their native Norway’s inspirational landscape.
Willing to accept fl metal’s base components as a starting point for a far-reaching musical vision yet not be confined by the genre’s stylistic or thematic guidelines, Fleurety embody the rebellious nature of the isolated spirit; the wolf deserting the pack in pursuit of independent treasures and discoveries.
The five songs that make up this debut effort are of the lengthy variety, three of which average over ten minutes, allowing space for development of dynamics in transition from unorthodox fl metal in an unhurried process in the sustainment of flowing motion.

Fleurety is quite an extraordinary band from Norway.
My first introduction to Fleurety was one year later, in 1994 when the "A darker shade of evil" 7" EP was released upon mankind.
Music-wise this one can't be compared to their debut album (Fleurety's album which is most known).

Fleurety - 'Min Tid Skal Komme' review @ into-obscurity.com[enter the underground]
While not as talked about as some of fl metal's early culprits, Fleurety began just as the first Norwegian fl metal recordings were seeing the light of day.
Fleurety played an avantgarde style of fl metal that many current day bands are still exploring, but these guys did it when this style of music wasn't as open to experimentation.
And regardless of whether today's bands would like to admit it or not, Fleurety were one of the first groups to have the forward thinking vision to try things like this.

 Ink 19 :: Fleurety
While much of the fl metal genre has a problem weathering three years time without sounding dated or corny, this Fleurety release (also included are their first demo and a rare compilation track) not only stands the test of time, but it shows a group of innovators playing unique and well thought out fl metal.
Not only are they very gritty and dark, but they feature Fleurety's original vocalist, who is probably one of the freakiest singers (of any genre) ever to have his voice put to tape.
Fleurety sounds much more like a prog metal band on the later tracks, though the dark guitars and utter lack of bass guitar keep the fl metal vibe alive.

 BALLBUSTERHARD Online Metal Journal Review
Members, and subsequently their first label, Misanthropy Records, were informed in no uncertain terms of the opinion of their opponents' had of them and their music and were treated to countless anonymous death threats as well as several dark parking lot scuffles with gentlemen in balaclavas eager to show off their knucleduster collections.
Today, however, Fleurety is one of the most respected bands in Norway, with what was previously dismissed as an insult to the ear having been long revised into an acknowledgement of Fleurety's individuality and musical genius, at least, that is what the band told us anyway.
Due to logistic complications arising from the band members being occupied with their studies and each currently residing in different countries, plus fist fights, knife fights and other disagreements between the label and the band, both the mini-cd and the album have been somewhat slow in coming.

Existing on the fringes and outskirts of the Scandanavian fl metal scene, the unprolific Fleurety stands as one of the more challenging and unusual artists of the 90s.
Their style is difficult to peg, as it incorporates fl metal extremity with progressive rock and somewhat jazzy musical structure.
If any comparisons to other bands can exist, Fleurety is closest to Ved Buens Ende with their unusual sound.

Fleurety is a Norwegian band which released in 1995 their debut album called “Min Tid Skal Komme”.
As a detail, for this album the Fleurety duo has been accompanied by well known stars as Hellhammer, Carl Michael Eide or Beyond Dawn´s drummer Einar Sjursø.
Well, it comes like this: you the bands have the right to play whatever you like, we the fans and journalists have the right to whiplash an album if we consider it to be pretentious junk.

Fleurety’s “Min tid skal komme” is not just another Norwegian fl metal release.
Back in 1995 this Fleurety still played traditional fl metal without any of the avant-garde elements they use today.
Fleurety’s cold and atmospheric fl metal presents a lot of keyboards and female vocals.

Fleurety is perhaps an unusual band name if you look at the word and try to imagine what it would mean without knowing the meaning of the word.
Intuitively, Fleurety sounds like something cosmetic, like for instance an eau de toilette (I was going to say something along those lines, but politeness won the day).

BNR Metal Pages -- Fleurety   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Fleurety is one of the oddest left-field fl metal bands to emerge in a long time, rivalling Arcturus and even Ulver in their quirkiness, enough so that fl metal is hardly a descriptive term for them at all.
Their style is an odd mixture of jazz, fl metal, and some vague progressive overtones -- and that's on Min Tid Skal Komme, which is almost conventional compared to their later releases.
The band has struggled with record labels that don't seem to know how to present them (not surprising), and so they are more or less on hiatus until this situation can be rectified.

That is the case of Fleurety as well, and _Department of Apocalyptic Affairs_ is about as difficult to squeeze into a genre pigeonhole as I've ever found with a release on a metal label.
This was fortunately not going to be the case for the rest of the record, however, and things soon got better.
Opting for a somewhat subdued sound instead of all-out aggression, the Norwegian duo challenges (and often seems to tease) the listener throughout the record.

There's no getting around it: Fleurety was a strange band, and Min Tid Skal Komme, their first full-length, is a strange album.
The rest of the album contains plenty of other incongruous and unexpected (for a fl metal album) moments, such as Portishead-tinged female vocals (scattered throughout several songs); some odd-timed, Rush-flavored riffs; and even a few sections where the band is playing in a major key.
