Salon de Fleurus was opened in a private apartment in the Soho district in Manhattan, from 1992 to 1993.
This is why the reconstruction of this space, after approximately 100 years, is called Salon de Fleurus, referring to the address in Paris and also to the fact that the best-known pieces of modern art were for the first time displayed together in the form of a salon tea party.
Salon de Fleurus will be shown as a collection of paintings and artworks installed in the museum and, at the same time, the same pieces and artifacts will be shown in a private apartment in Spring Street 41 in Manhattan.

Salon de Fleurus is to be found in an apartment with two rooms connected by an oval atrium.
In a similar way the paintings in the Salon de Fleurus present themselves as successful mimicry of a certain state of mind; imitation that is even more controversial here because until recently the birth of modern art had so explicitly referred to scientific analysis while here it is completely mythologized.
The "Autobiography" relates the heroic times of cubism, the life of the lost generation (Hemingway and the rest) as Gertrude Stein termed them, and the beginning of modern art through anecdotes and aphorisms with an abundance of details that transposed history to a mythological narrative.

Salon de Fleurus re-constructs one of the most significant collections of modern art from the turn of the previous century, created in 1906-1907 by the American author and literary critic Gertrude Stein (1874-1946), with the help of her brother Leo Stein, in their Paris apartment at 27, rue de Fleurus.
Open to the public since 1992, Salon de Fleurus is an art project—installation, reconstruction, recollection—situated in a private New York apartment that has attracted an impressive number of visitors, from collectors and art professionals to artists and passersby.
The author(s) of the Salon de Fleurus remain(s) anonymous, although it is always possible to meet, as a doorman and a guide/narrator of the project, Goran Djordjevic, former artist and physicist, who left Belgrade for New York in the beginning of the 1990s.
