Flextech own a number of British channels, available on Digital Terrestrial (Freeview), Satellite (BSkyB) and Cable platforms.
In July 2005 rumours began circulating that Telewest were being pressed to sell the company by the cable company NTL before a long anticipated merger could take place.
A number of companies are thought to be interested in buying Flextech, including UK rivals ITV, Channel 4, the pan-european broadcaster RTL (100% owners of the UK's Five tv channel in the same month, July 2005), Hallmark Entertainment, Time Warner, NBC Universal and Viacom.

TELEWEST Communications and Flextech are in merger talks to create a company worth almost £10 billion in an attempt to gain a stronger foothold in the UK digital television market and spearhead developments in internet and interactive television.
A joint statement said: "The boards of Telewest and Flextech announce that exploratory discussions between the two companies as to ways of working closer together to develop their respective businesses are taking place.

Flextech, which has sought to vary the terms of its $19.9 million loan stock due on Oct 23, 2002, said an upfront partial redemption of 25 per cent of the outstanding principal amount of the loan stock will be given to holders of Loan Stock 2002 on a pro rata basis.
