The greatest obstacle to nurse recruitment has a name, educators say, and it is "guidance counselor." These advisers may have the same prejudice as others against nursing, but wield greater power as gatekeepers.

Nurses were appointed in the Regular Army for a three-year period, although nurses were not actually commissioned as officers in the Regular Army until forty-six years later-on 16 April 1947.
The nurse practitioner must be a graduate of a six-month course in a given specialty and work primarily in the clinic environment, whereas the clinical nurse specialist must have a master's degree in nursing and perform in the expanded role within specific clinical areas of an inpatient facility.

There are a couple of nurses I know who have gone to HR and were able to sweet talked someone into making them a name badge with all the designations on it.
I actually requested the BSN be taken off bc the nurses who've been there forever didn't have BSN at the end of their names and I didn't want them to think I was showing off or saying I was better or something else snobby.
I'm not a nurse, and I know that BSN is a difficult major, and that BSN nurses are proud of their degrees and rightly so.

When the 82nd Medical Detachment arrived in Vietnam in October 1964, Bruce, Ernie Sylvester, and Si Simmons were transferred from the 57th into the 82nd to teach the new pilots the tactics and ethos instilled in them by Major Kelly.
