rediff.com: cricket channel - What cricket has and baseball doesn’t
On the other hand in cricket, the batsman has to judge the line and the bounce of the ball correctly and in a fraction of second has to decide the most suitable shot for that particular ball.
In cricket, the batsman can decide when he wants to take a run whereas in baseball the batters often have to commit ‘hara-kiri’, thanks to the ridiculous rule of running as soon as the batter makes contact with the ball.
On the other hand cricket may not be as popular as soccer but it has an international standing and at present apart from the 10 Test-playing nations there are over 120 associate nations that form the ever growing cricket community.

Flipper (cricket) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The flipper is the name of a particular bowling delivery used in cricket, generally by a leg spin bowler.
In doing so the flipper will float on towards the batsman and land on a fuller length than he anticipated, often leaving him caught on the back foot when he wrongly assumes it to be a pullable or a cuttable ball.
Much of the effectiveness of the flipper is attributable to the "pop"—that is, the extra pace and change in trajectory that is imparted to the ball when it is squeezed out of the bowler's hand.

Warne hopes flipper puts English through hoops - Cricket - Sport - theage.com.au
THOSE close to Shane Warne have hailed the return of his favourite party trick, the flipper, a delivery they believe will take up residence in the minds of England's batsmen this summer and, importantly, remind the great leg spinner of the joy he derived from it in his youth.
Warne took 40 wickets in last year's Ashes and hardly used the flipper, perhaps because the the variations of his leg break were working so beautifully.
Jenner said Warne's willingness to use the famous flipper was an indication that his confidence was high heading into the Ashes — a message he doubtless hoped would travel across the globe as the England players steal a few days at home with their families before leaving for Sydney on Friday.
