As of 2005, Cavendish Hall JCR is one of the two JCRs (the other being the Nightingale Hall)on the University Park Campus that is formally recognised as an association of the Students' Union.The JCR president for the academic year 2005/06 is Robert Barns-Graham, the Vice-President is Andrew Kaufman.
It is one of the smallest halls on campus.
The hall is named after Sherwood Forest, and was designed by the architects J Fletcher Watson as part of the 1960s expansion programme on University Park.

At Plaisaunce, the Boot family's summer house, employees were invited to afternoon entertainments, with music, dancing, athletics, swimming, and in the evenings sometimes fireworks.
Jesse Boot arranged for the band to be coached by a professional conductor, Mr Alex Owen, and in June 1908 the band made its first venture into competitions at Lincoln.
Boots Choral Union, a choir of 30 selected voices, was established around 1907, and also performed at Plaisaunce.

Florence Boot Hall was founded as a hall of residence for women on the University Park campus in 1928 by Florence, Lady Trent, wife of the philanthropist, businessman and founder of the Boots Company, Jesse Boot.
Florence took a huge personal interest in the setting up of the hall, even insisting on getting involved with the designs and furnishings down to the last tiny details, such as which china should be bought.
Elizabeth Jones, who is one of the organiser's of the 75th anniversary events and was a tutor at Florence Boot Hall for 23 years before retiring last year, said: "Florence was a very remarkable woman who really was ahead of her time.

A few miles from the centre of Nottingham, the 330 acre (1.3 km²) site is one of the largest university campuses in the United Kingdom, and home to the majority of the University's 27,000 students.
The campus contains 12 Halls of Residence, of which the oldest and largest is Hugh Stewart Hall, as well as academic and administrative buildings.
Of particular note are the formal Jekyll Garden, allegedly designed by Gertrude Jekyll, next to Lenton and Wortley Hall; the walled Highfield Garden near the Trent building, which is home to the national collection of Canna; and the new Millennium Garden, formally opened in 2000, which has won several awards.

Following complaints from local hospitals about the number of students requiring medical attention, since 2001 the university has officially banned students from partaking in the event, and staff at hall bars now often refuse to admit or serve students they suspect of attempting the feat.
To complete the crawl properly it is necessary to drink either a pint or a double shot in each bar, though few students manage this in all fourteen.
The crawl is complicated by the relatively short time in which it has to be undertaken; The Hall of Residence bars open at 7pm, and all except the Union bar close by 11pm, making the time limit usually around 20 mins per bar including the walks between them.

This CD is kind of rough sounding by pro-standards but it seems to come from a soundboard source and is way better than any other rendering (even the fabled and now impossible to find 4 track boot ep).
It's strange and sad to think about how much better the VU would have faired had they made it to Europe in their heyday - here they are enthusiastically received on the basis of a not-yet-established cult and no real 'new' material.
The source seems to be an "audience" recording made at the Andy Warhol Museum, probably taped in front of a speaker playing the original CD in a large hall.
