Over 300,000 people in Poland regard themselves as Kashubs and over 200,000 still speak the Kashubian language.
A movement set up in 1846 for promoting the Kashubs was called "Florian Ceynowa" and a present group "Odroda" is aiming at national renewal of the Kashubs.
