Florian Rousseau continued the French party by taking his third men's sprint world title.
However Rousseau was not beaten and gradually closed on Fiedler, cheered on by the partisan French crowd.
Along the back straight of the final lap Fiedler tried to come past but Rousseau was too fast and the German was helpless as Rousseau powered to his third consecutive sprint world title.
