 Roman Emperors - DIR probus
After the murder of Aurelian, the Senate chose as his successor the septuagenarian senator, Tacitus, who took up the burdens of state and headed with the army to the East.
Florianus was acknowledged in Rome and was supported by Gaul, Spain, Britain, and Italy; Probus was supported by Syria, Phoenicia, Palestine and Egypt.
With a much smaller force, Probus decided his best strategy would be to avoid a pitched battle and let the heat overcome the troops of Florianus.

Coins of Florianus are fairly scarce due to his very short reign, but he continued to issue the Antoninianus and the Aurelianus.
Examining the database of the American Numismatic Society for the coins of Florianus (37 examples), we find that the weight of his Antoninianus (no differentation is made with the Aurelianus) varied from about 3.2 to 4 grams, although there is an example as low as 2.83 grams.

The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire XII
The eyes of Tacitus were scarcely closed before his brother Florianus showed himself unworthy to reign by the hasty usurpation of the purple, without expecting the approbation of the senate.
Their numbers were diminished by frequent desertion, the passes of the mountains were feebly defended; Tarsus opened its gates; and the soldiers of Florianus, when they had permitted him to enjoy the Imperial title about three months, delivered the empire from civil war by the easy sacrifice of a prince whom they despised.
The children of Tacitus and Florianus were permitted to descend into a private station, and to mingle with the general mass of the people.
