The is part of the Legislative branch of government for the state of Florida.
While the US Senate provides two representative for each state regardless of the population and the Federal Congressional districts are demarcated by population over a geographic area, representation in the Florida legislature is not organized similarly.
Instead of a fixed number of Florida Senators per county representing the entire county regardless of population, Florida Senate and Florida House districts are both organized by population over geographic areas; Florida Senate districts are simply larger, representing more people over a larger geographic area and frequently cross county borders.
