Florida State Roads - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Every road maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation or a toll authority is given a number.
Prior to the 1945 renumbering, State Roads were given numbers in the order they were added to the system.
Most secondary routes and some primary routes were given to the counties, and occasionally a new state road was taken over; some main roads in incorporated areas were given to the localities.

Clemson vs. Florida State Game Notes :: Bowden Bowl IV will kickoff on Thursday night.
As everyone knows, when Florida State's Bobby Bowden and Clemson's Tommy Bowden take the field Thursday evening   to coach their respective teams, it will be the fourth competition of father and son head coaches in NCAA Division I history.  The previous three occasions have taken place the last three years when the two teams met.
Florida State won the second meeting in 2000  in Tallahassee by a 54-7 count.  Clemson entered the game with an 8-1 record and #10 national ranking, while Florida State was ranked fourth in the nation.  Clemson was coming off a heart-breaking 31-28 loss to Georgia Tech the previous week and that loss seemed to linger.
Florida State defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews served in the same capacity for Clemson between 1976-80 and held the assistant head coach title under Danny Ford in 1980.  Thus, when Clemson's offense and Florida State's defense are on the field, the coordinators involved coached at both schools.

Florida's Turnpike - Enpsychlopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Florida's Turnpike (also called the Florida Turnpike) is a toll road that runs 265 miles (426 km) down the Florida peninsula through 11 counties, from Interstate 75 at Wildwood, to near Miami.
As the turnpike system is a primary route useful for evacuations, the state will suspend tolls on the Turnpike, as well as other roads in the system when a hurricane watch is issued or when other state or national emergencies warrant rapid movement of the population.
The Turnpike started using this system long before Florida's interstate highways were on the system, but originally used a sequential system, and then a hybrid where adjacent exit numbers differed by 4 south of SR 60 (exit 60 at the time) and 5 north of SR 60.
